Quote from: thecolorsblend on Sat, 11 May  2024, 16:38Canonically, Babs is supposed to be a redhead. We know how well redheaded characters do when adapted into other media these days. How else can you have POC Babs unless her old man has been race swapped too?
It really is a bizarre and unfortunate stance being taken against redheads. At this point we need Jessica Chastain or someone like her cast as Poison Ivy to restore order.

At some point I'm hoping the Mad Monk/Monster Men arc gets adapted. That has the potential to be one of the best bunch of episodes from anything if done right.

Quote from: Travesty on Sat, 11 May  2024, 15:16Yeah, not sure if you guys noticed, but Harley is also swapped to an Asian chick.
It's the prerequisite for any show or movie now. Gordon has become black and it seems to be a permanent mainstay. Same for Perry White, at least in the movies. All I can hope for is the main characters remain looking like the main characters. That's thankfully been the case for Batman and Superman so far.

Quote from: Travesty on Sat, 11 May  2024, 15:16Same with Matt Reeves' Gordon(who I think is my favorite live action version).
I have to say the Pattinson/Wright dynamic is probably the best in the film series. I daresay even more so than Bale/Oldman after just one film. They're direct and frequent collaborators out in the field and you feel their mutual trust and respect. So there's that.

Quote from: Travesty on Sat, 11 May  2024, 15:16But overall, I'm pretty stoked for this show. And it's only a few months away.
Same. We also have The Penguin and Joker 2, which makes 2024 a decent year for content.

Quote from: Travesty on Thu,  9 May  2024, 23:38I would say the majority of the cast look the part, so I'm good on that, but again, that suit looks pretty bad. Granted, I'm willing to see what it looks like in motion, and I can easily change my mind if it happens to look better, but yeah, not a good first look.

Oh well, we'll just have to wait for more in the coming year or so.
Indeed, but the suit still isn't something I'll ever be on board with because of this:

It's just a joke to me for a contemporary film, showing the character is a relic. It sticks out like a sore thumb and I really wish they didn't go back down this road after Snyder had the guts to go another route.

Well done, Rick. You can hold your head high. You weren't bullied into doing something you didn't want to do, and have your Ghostbusters record clean, unlike those who came back for the very average to poor continuations.

If they get Viggo and Ian on board then I'll be ready to roll. Surely they have to be, given it's the same filmic universe. Their current age is a factor but I suppose they can work around it. The loyalty the cast have to Jackson could see them come back again, even if someone like Viggo isn't completely keen about it. The timeline allows his inclusion, unlike The Hobbit films which he himself pointed out. In any case, this interests me a whole lot more than TROP, which I can't bring myself to even glimpse at.

Feels like it could be absolutely scraping the barrel but it could also end up being good. Do Viggo and Ian come back, in a deaged function? If it's set before/during Fellowship it makes me wonder how they stretch out another trilogy.

I dig how this looks overall. It has a specific theme and edge differentiating itself from the usual, going through the motions fare. I'll be watching.

Quote from: Slash Man on Thu,  9 May  2024, 23:49The first African American police commissioner was appointed in 1984, and this show is supposed to be early 40s?
Indeed. They're going hard on black American Gordon. The Lego movie, The Batman and now this.

I concur about the casting of Corenswet. He looks the part. As for the suit, I'm willing to see how it moves in live action opposed to this still. Which I maintain wasn't the best pose or scenario to go with.

Snyder had the right idea in removing the red diaper. It was modern, fresh and simply time to move in that direction on film IMO. The argument there's too much blue without them doesn't hold water anymore for me. Having them back just feels like a giant regression. Batman films since 1989 have gone without diapers and it's been fine. It's okay in animation and comics, but right now in a 2024/5 movie it's just out of place and a source of amusement. Don't worry, I get all the historical meaning behind them.

I'm open to this being a continuation of the West universe, representing a gradual maturation that eventually becomes Miller's TDK Returns. Imagining West in that particular story just makes the whole thing better in my eyes. I'll be purchasing the complete collection set when it's released in a couple of months to see for myself if the show allows that idea to be possible.
