Pfeiffer's Catwoman was simply fantastic!!!

I would literally thank Warren Beatty if I ever met him, just for getting Anette Benning pregnant.   :D

Cause .. you know ... that opened the door for our lovely Michelle.  ;D

Batman Forever (1995) / Re: Carrey's Riddler
Tue, 24 Mar 2009, 15:38
Quote from: Dark Knight DetectiveIf WB had wanted a "skillful" actor to portray the Riddler, then they would not have approved of Jim Carrey. They knew that he was a comedian, & not a "serious" actor.

So, if anything, it's their fault, not his.

Exactly.

Jim Carrey was red hot at the time with films like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace ventura. WB knew EXACTLY what they wanted when they hired him. Which was obviously something akin to those performances. And Carrey delievered just that.

And I have no doubt Carrey's participation with FOREVER also played a hand in it being such a box office success in 1995.

I liked the Forever logo with the Bat symbol/question mark.

I liked select songs from both soundtracks.

I liked Nicole Kidman as Chase.

Would have of course preferred Keaton, but Kilmer did a good job with what he had to work with.

And though I'm not a big fan of redheads, I certainly thought Uma Thurman looked good as Poison Ivy. But "good" isnt a word I would describe her performance .... or the script ... or the film.  :D

From a studio's perspective, Jeff Goldblum probably would have been the preferred choice for Schumacher to go with.

We all know how WB had a thing for big name celeb's playing the roles of the villains during this era, and considering that Jeff was coming off of "The Lost World", I'm sure WB saw him as the ideal choice.

I remember reading Shumacher stating that he had no intention on offering Howard Stern the role. And for the most part, I believe him. Though one has to wonder if "Private Parts" was more of a box office success, instead of a modest one, how much of that would have played into him being considered for the role. From what I gather, Stern was definately interested.

I think Burton would have been more keen on bringing in Two-Face if he was provided the opportunity to followup on Batman Returns.

WB would have wanted Riddler for sure. Much like the Penguin with Returns.

I probably would have been most interested in seeing what Tim Curry's Joker would have been like if Jack had declined the role.

Robin Williams is another that sounds interesting, but to me Williams would make a great Riddler. Especially if the interpretation is similar to TAS "If you're so smart, why arent you rich?" Riddler.

That's interesting.

If that DID actually happen, that's great. And come to think of it, I think on one of the featurettes found on the 1989 SE states that Burton did infact walk around with a copy of "The Killing Joke" telling fans that his film would look more akin to TKJ, than the 1960's tv show.

Which was obviously a huge concern at the time.

Oh, to evesdrop on that conversation ....  ;D

As much as I liked Vicki Vale in Batman 1989, Selina was definately more of a match for Keaton's Batman.

I think alot of kids today would have liked Ledger's Joker either way, but him passing away did IMO bring that little something extra special to the portrayal that made people perhaps examine it more than it might have otherwise have been.

Personally, I'll probably always prefer Jack's Joker. And for more than just sentimental reasons. Overall, his Joker just seems more akin to the various Joker incarnations that appeared in DC comics and other media for a very good number of years.
