Somebody uploaded videos of storyboards for the whole Penguin Mechanic episode. Once again, I love how the artwork is nearly identical to the final product.

For some reason, Alex Ross uploaded a side-by-side comparison of comic panels he drew and Superman in BvS, and tagged it to Gunn. This was the second time he uploaded this montage on Twitter, but he deleted the post he tagged on Gunn's name.

Don't know if it's worth reading into. But you can tell Ross appreciates the similarities between his work and the shots in BvS.

Looking back at the post-credit scene of Amanda Waller meeting Deathstroke at Blackgate Penitentiary makes me lament over the alternative Suicide Squad game that never came to fruition. It couldn't have been any worse than Kill the Justice League.

Maybe the team roster could've consisted Deathstroke, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Black Tiger (who appeared as a boss in the Arkham Origins: Blackgate game), and maybe Copperhead, Captain Boomerang and Rick Flag. I'd include Harley Quinn, but if the planned game was going to take place sometime after Origins then maybe it wouldn't have made sense in the timeline because she hadn't been victimised and transformed by the Joker yet. Nonetheless, the characters I mentioned served as a decent team.

Instead of having the team fight superpowered targets, just have it as a straightforward espionage type of game, in the style of Splinter Cell. If the scope of an open world is too hard for these characters, then why not have it as a linear game with four chapters each for every Squad member? Whatever ideas one can come up with, surely they're much better than whatever that hideous cash grab came out this month.

I found an interview of Tim Daly, and he talked about playing Superman and Bizarro in the show.

Something I know I loved about your work in the series is that you were only one of a handful of actors who got to play Superman and Bizarro. Looking back, exploring that duality, even in just a handful of episodes, must have been quite an experience?

Quote from: Tim DalyYeah, I really liked doing Bizarro. At the time, I was in the thrall of that darkness actors seem to love to delve into, me included. It's the dark side of humanity and I consider it my job to explore all the sides of humanity, good and bad, dark and light. It was fun to get away for a moment from the boy scout nature of Superman and really go into a dark place with Bizarro. I had a great deal of empathy for him because he is sort of misguided, misunderstood, and used. He wasn't innately evil I don't think. He was just manipulated in a way that made him seem so. Anyway, the short answer is, yes, I had a good time doing that.

I rewatched the episode Identity Crisis and I forgot how much Bizarro was a healthy functional clone who was convinced he was the true Superman, until his body and speech began to deteriorate. A pretty solid - if simple - story about a well-meaning but confused character who was a victim of Lex Luthor playing God. I liked how he still had traces of Superman's personality and heroism to make him a tragic character, not just for comic relief.

From a geeky point of view, I wished this episode had Bizarro having the subconsciousness of dressing up like Clark Kent at work, as he did in the fifth chapter of John Byrne's Man of Steel mini-series. He already had inherited Superman's traits, so having a scene with him breaking into a store and dressed as Clark the reporter before he and Superman fight each other would've been a nice nod to the comic, even if it were obscure.

James Gunn: "The biggest problem with superhero movies today is cameo porn".

Also James Gunn: Praises The Flash when it's loaded with cameos and is making a Superman movie with too many heroes taking the spotlight away from the main character.

If this farce doesn't get shelved, I hope it flops faster than a speeding bullet.

Movies / WBD wants to shelve Coyote vs Acme
Sun, 18 Feb 2024, 01:34
The news came out a week ago.

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/final-days-coyote-vs-acme-140000578.html

Assuming they haven't destroyed the film already, Coyote vs Acme will be the third film shelved for tax write-offs by WBD, after Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt. This is yet another terrible look for the studio and gives suspicion they were acting out of bad faith.

The most baffling thing out of all this is James Gunn co-wrote AND co-produced Coyote vs Acme.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1756855/fullcredits

Despite this, Gunn has NOT said anything publicly about the situation. This leads me to believe in two possibilities:

1) This whole ordeal is a cynical PR marketing campaign to hype up a supposedly great film, and an announcement to sell the film to another studio will be announced by the next earnings call in a week from now;

2) Gunn doesn't care if the Looney Tunes project he contributed is in danger of getting erased, because he's too busy hijacking the DC brand to line up his own pockets.

If this film is truly doomed and not even someone like Gunn's current standing in the industry can save it, then who is to say this DCU won't be dead on arrival? If I were Gunn, I'd do everything I could and call the studio out for destroying a film I worked on, instead of spin-doctoring every time there's bad PR affecting his DCU agenda.

Whatever the case is, this is yet another black mark on WBD's already tainted reputation. Directors, writers, actors and consumers need to start taking a stance against this shoddy corporate misconduct, because other studios are beginning to copy. Netflix shelved a sci-fi film starring Halle Berry a few weeks ago. This can't go on.

Thanks for sharing! Connor did a great job on the TNBA version too. Same poses, but I'm glad he used the BB: ROTJ version for Joker. As he should've appeared in the revamp of the show.

In the latest issue of Joker: Year One story, many pages had modeled Batman with Batfleck's likeness. Including the Knightmare timeline.

A CW executive said that Superman and Lois is getting canceled after the latest season because WBD doesn't want to have multiple versions of the character competing against each other.

If that's the attitude that wretched studio has going forward then what the hell does that mean for Batman?

I've seen bits and pieces of this show, and I gotta be honest, it surprisingly looks rather decent. Even Tyler Hoechlin does a much better job here. From the clips I saw of him, he portrays Clark and Superman more in the style of a Post Crisis comic and Henry Cavill. Stern, combative and stands his ground unapologetically. He still his light-hearted moments but from what I can tell, it's a big improvement from his goofy portrayal in his previous Arrowverse appearances.

I'll give the show a chance at some point.
