Batman's chin

Hello,
This image of Batman in front of the Joker is great, but I've always wondered if Keaton was wearing a prosthesis or forced his chin to make his image more similar to comics.

No chin appliance, but yes they had endless fittings to achieve the kind of effect on his neck/chin skin that they wanted. It's just being jutted out unnaturally.

At times they put aluminum plates in strategic places in the cheeks, possibly under the chin to keep the cowl's shape.

Some people have called into question the lack of puffy lips in this photo before, but it seems unlikely they would've put one of his three doubles on display in a well lit publicity shot with Nicholson. It could be the way the light is coming down on his face or the blurry quality of the old photo scan itself. This is purely a publicity pose, doesn't match up with the way its staged in the film with Joker's frizzy hair and everything.

I'm convinced that was Keaton, his mouth looks slightly different because he must've been pursing his lips halfway when that photo was taken. His chin matches his profile, as you can see when he puts Jack Napier down during the first Axis Chemicals scene.

QuoteJonathan Nolan: He [Batman] has this one rule, as the Joker says in The Dark Knight. But he does wind up breaking it. Does he break it in the third film?

Christopher Nolan: He breaks it in...

Jonathan Nolan: ...the first two.
