Batman & Robin (1997) / Re: Batman batsuit

That's a really great cover, SilentEnigma ! You know, I check the forum every day to read the new posts and all the things you knowledgable Batman fans know that I don't and I always find your posts to be terrific to read and I personally agree with the way you see the Batman character.

I also bought Keaton's character poster from Returns, I'll have it framed soon.

Do you like that Clooney Batman poster I bought and framed ? What do you think of it ?

I recently bought this poster and had it framed : http://cache2.allpostersimages.com/p/LRG/49/4916/7MW9G00Z/posters/batman-and-robin-george-clooney.jpg

I know it's from the most maligned of the Batman movies, but when I was a kid and saw that image I fell in love with it and it still kind of resonates with me all these years later. I, too, know Batman & Robin is the worst of them all because it purposefully made fun of its title character, but that poster image (and all the other character posters that advertised the movie) are part, for better or worse, of my childhood.

Besides, I think it's a cool poster  ;D !

If a JLA film happens, it can aid Batman's characterisation. I prefer the loner Batman and that could remain true in a group setting. People know what it feels like. You're at a function or out somewhere with people you don't know or don't like and as a result say virtually nothing. You stand out because of it. Batman would be the same. He's the only non powered person in the room but that brings other unique aspects to the table. The human perspective. Keeping his eyes on them. This picture below captures what I mean:

That's exactly what I think the approach to the JLA when it comes to the Batman should be.

That's alright with me ! Great idea !

The suit is a winner. Cinematography is looking good.

I just hope the movie brings something fresh to the table. If it can do that, it will go a long way in me liking it.

Same here !

Movies / Re: James Bond in SkyFall

I still can't figure out why they made Craig look so old with the cropped hair and all.

This is supposed to be the James Bond re-boot we are in now and they have Craig looking older than he really is ........ more like a 49 year old Bond nearing retirement instead of the 35 year old Bond that only recently earned his Double 00.

Skyfall was grand scale, but I still rate Casino Royale much, much, much better.

In ways this did not feel like a Bond film, but just a big scale action/spy thriller.

And I know I am in the minority here, but I did NOT care for the main bad guy at all.

To me his over the top portrayal was not menacing, creepy and psychotic as others felt --------- to me it seemed goofy, comical and almost spoof like......... almost as though he was trying to be the Joker in Batman.

It was big budget, big action ... but it could have been any spy, any good guy.
The action and effects were there ........ but I did not feel the spirit or essence of the Bond character in this one.

Yes, it was good.
Certainly better than Quantum of Solace
But not as good as the super hype and media buzz would lead one to believe.
Great marketing helped this one a lot I think.

I will watch it again in a week to see how I feel after a second viewing, but something was missing for me it seemed.

I rate Casino Royale among the best ..... if not the best in the series.

Skyfall might be # 5 or # 6
I will see what I think after a second viewing.

I just know the first impression was not a great one.
Good ....... but not memorable.

The meat and potatoes were there ..... but the soul and spirit of James Bond seemed to be missing in my eyes.

The ludicrous thing for me regarding "Nolanites" (a word slightly more annoying than the dreaded "reboot" one) is how they and even some critics for that matter, can call The Dark Knight Rises a "classic" and a "masterpiece".
The golden age was truly B89/BR and BTAS, which was directly influenced by the movies. Batman was great well before Nolan.

Preach it, brother !

Prepare for something that might sound way off, but here's my prime problem with the whole JLA concept.

For me, Batman loses his "power" when seen in daytime, surrounded by superpowered characters, in pristine sci-fi sets. What is once mythical and strikes fear in Gotham City, a setting of urban decay of which Batman is an organic part, is also rather ridiculously theatrical in daytime, when larger threats than madmen, psychotic killers, or the mob, are involved. Batman makes sense (in a pulp/comic book way) when he acts in the semi-fantastical cityscape called Gotham City.

Outside of that, what is Batman supposed to be? The brains of the operation, as has been pointed out, or the Nick Fury character, as has been argued? The "most dangerous man on earth" that helps a lot with his intellect and his money? If so, why does he have to wear that theatrical Bat-suit in the first place? He would be better off if for JLA he simply renamed himself as Tek Knight and wore a technology-based suit similar to Iron Man's that focused on function and not theatrics.

Completely agree on everything you wrote there, buddy !

Guys, I want to deeply thank you for the fantastic answers that you have so far given to my question.

I am so grateful that you have taken time out from your busy schedule to answer my kind of quirky, silly question.
