The new trailer for the next MCU show has debuted, starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.

This might be the first Marvel content that has gotten my attention in four years. The only Moon Knight comics I've read was was the original Doug Moench run, where he's basically more or less a Batman clone, who happens to brought back to life by an Ancient Egyptian spirit when he was double-crossed during a mercenary mission. In the original comics, he adopted multiple personas, the billionaire, the taxi driver to find out info going around the street similar to Batman's Matches Malone identity, and as his superhero ego. I've haven't read his later comics, but a friend told me he was reinvented a bit by making him suffer from dissociative personality disorder. I believe that's the direction this show might be going for.

I anticipate Moon Knight will have a bit of that formulaic Marvel humour, but hopefully it doesn't overdue like most of the MCU content does nowadays.

I've never read a Moon Knight comic in my life, but this show looks good.

Gaspard Ulliel, who plays the villain Midnight Man in this new show, has tragically died in a skiing accident.

Sad news.

Watching the trailer again, Oscar Isaac's English personality is called Steven. IIRC, Marc Spector adopted the billionaire identity called Steven Grant in the original comics I read. Like Batman, he had a luxury vehicle, but instead of a Batmobile knockoff, he had a plane called the Mooncopter.

They probably won't reveal the Mooncopter in this show if Spector doesn't adopt the billionaire persona, so maybe it might be introduced in the next season, film or whatever.

In this TV show, Steven is works in a gift shop. Judging by the confusion over him holding a gun during the car chase, I assume his true identity Marc Spector - the mercenary - is the other persona. As long as they don't goof it up with too much dumb MCU humour, this dynamic could be fun to watch.

Kevin Feige promises Moon Knight will be "brutal" and experimental.

Here is a teaser poster for the show. If the dry blood splatter on the Crescent Dart is a sign for things to come, maybe Feige is serious. It should mean there won't be any problems bringing the original Daredevil Netflix show on Disney Plus, if MK is half as violent as that.

Here is a better look at the costumes.

I love how his cape transforms as a crescent moon as he jumps, very Batman like. And yes, this is typical MK imagery like in the comics.

Looks interesting.

Admittedly, I know very little of Moon Knight, but have always been aware of the character ever since I was a kid. Just wasn't something I read, and back then, my comic book pull list was enough as is without adding Moon Knight's on-off again title to it. Costume looks great, and I dug the trailer. I've considered possibly picking up the Volume 1 Marvel Epic Collection of Moon Knight, but just haven't pulled the trigger on that just yet.

Never was a big Moon Knight guy. Always thought the character had potential but most of it was never realized. Some characters are that way, waiting for the right creator to come along and give them the legitimacy they need. Wally West, Hal Jordan, Iron Man and others are all good examples of this.

Maybe MK will have his day in the comics after the show?

I know what you mean.

As a kid, I was always aware of Moon Knight thanks mostly to his guest appearances, but just never really had the keen interest in reading. For some reason, I specifically remember Moon Knight getting some buzz during the early-mid 1990's due to artist Stephen Platt's covers (yes, this was during the Image era where stylized comic artists got A LOT of attention), but for the most part, MK was just kinda there to me. I liked his comic costume, I understood the concept (was aware of the Doug Moench connection due to reading '90's Batman titles to be perfectly honest), but due to MK's own book coming and going, I basically felt like he was something of a inconsequential Marvel character. Good for those interested, but not a major player in the Marvel Universe comics by any stretch of the imagination.

We'll see how this goes. I haven't been too terribly interested in the bulk of Disney +'s MCU Shows, but this might just be an exception....

I'm extremely excited for this, although, I know next to nothing about Moon Knight other than a brief synopsis that I read. But I think this looks great.

I'll be watching, for sure.

Here is a better look at the Moon Knight costume. I like it.

Since Ethan Hawke plays the cult leader Arthur Darrow, this shot must be taking place at his temple/hideout.

I'm looking forward to seeing this show. Although, I hope it doesn't copy the same annoying Venom style of comedy with the voices in Marc Spector/Steven Grant's head, as we saw with Eddie Brock and Venom.

Here's another poster.
