Where is Batman at the very beginning?

That's an awesome scene. Wasn't Batman animated in that shot?

I'd say it was the cathedral and that it was too high up for Batman to see what was going on down there. He probably just heard the mother scream.

I seem to recall reading a script for this movie and if I remember correctly it described gargoyles on the roof and one of them moves, implying it's Batman. Either that or it's Louis Tully from Ghostbusters.

Yeah I would say it was the Cathedral as well cause I did notice notice the gargoyles. The scene of the city below is also remiscent of when the Batwing comes across the Cathedral cathedral and swoops down.
