Misc. Burton / Neca Batman Proplica's
Mon, 16 Aug 2021, 20:30
'89 Batarang (released):

Spear gun (coming soon):

Doesn't look like it breaks down into parts

Line Launcher (TBA):

Really hope we get Returns items!

I figured I'd make a thread about these. Some say the Batarang isn't 100% screen accurate and matched more the Resin kit that's been around for years. Anyone have these? I have it, and love it.

Found this matte painting on ebay of a Gotham that looks a little more like 89

Batman Returns Script (not sure which revision)

Misc. Schumacher / Onstar Commercials

With the new Burton/Schumacher split, I would if that means the Onstar commercials could not fit into the Schumacherverse with little to no issues (Joker and Penguin).

Been on a kick with this today with 89 and The Flash 2021.

Here is the filming location for Wayne Manor in Forever
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huXZv9Ke_0U

Fun fact: The laundry room is dubbed the "Batcave" in honor of Forever filming there.

They don't mention this location being used for Gotham but rather Joker, where it was used again for Wayne Manor

I think Wong Kar Wai would make a rather interesting Batman film

Tony Leung would make a pretty smooth Bruce Wayne if he did an elsewords take on the character

Watching Returns and it's something I never really thought about. Penguin He knew who his parents were and was killing when he was in the circus, so it's not out of the realm of possibility he had them killed? Or perhaps an accident of some sort?

Misc. Schumacher / Post Flash era

Do you think these films will become forgotten once Keaton returns to the big screen and essentially becomes part of the DCEU and essentially wipe these off the timeline?

As much as there arent the Burton films I do hold some nostalgia for them (mostly forever) and Forever is at least gaining/has a following.

Misc. Burton / Space Jam!
Sat, 3 Apr 2021, 14:13
Joker spotted in the new Space Jam Trailer, cool seeing him there (right side)! It's a nice touch considering Nicholsons' love for the game.

I wonder if we'll see Batman (which one if not all?)

Worth the runtime! Picked up on stuff I didn't before (namely around the Riddlers character)

Batman Forever (1995) / Chicks dig the car

I noticed this line has gotten into some scrutiny lately, and I kind of feel like it's the new batnipples. I've been watching a lot of retrospective and reviews of Forever and it seems like this line is always brought up in an "I can't believe they did that tone". I never really had any issue with this line and it seems like it was quite memorable (an entire Batmobile forum titled after it) but it seems to not have aged well or atleast is starting not too.

Thinking about this film now actually made me realize (ironically) how much they really catered to the sexualization of Batman with nod, wink and semi-fourth wall breaks. Chase almost feels like, not a Schumacher fantasy but more of a wink and nod to how women had come to sexualize Batman since the 89 film...something that Catwoman got knocked for but in retrospect, I almost feel like Forever had alot more sexual tension that got a slide from audiences including Chase's attempt to seduce Batman and her being silhouetted by only wearing a sheet waiting for Batman.

The original script for Forever even went further with an actual love scene (something that Returns didn't even do).

I know alot of the issues with Returns stems from the Penguin and alot of innuendos but again, Batman and Chase basically had an entire conversation in innuendos. You also had Sugar and Spice who wore lingerie and bascally were a girl-friend henchman for each side of Two-Face, compared to Catwomans skin tight costume.

Did it pass because it the villians werent as vulgar as The Penguin?

I tried to make it a little less campy. Overall I'm happy, there are a few continuity/too tight of edits, however.

It's a proof of concept. I'd be interested in seeing how much I can remove from the film if I could only remove the score to replace some of the tracks (which I tried doing here)

Overall a fun interview with BTAS director Dan Riba but this part I never knew!

"These were untested guys (Bruce Timm and co.)...so they sent the materials to Tim Burton and he said "These can do it, they can absolutely do it"

I know the show was a sort-of spin-off of the films but I didn't realize Tim had some sort of say. What sort of involvement did he have/suppose to have?

But kudos to him for having the faith in Timm and co.

Came across this looking for info on the Batman Returns one.

The poster doesn't seem to have posted anything regarding the contests, but if we don't get an official extended cut, hopefully, this is the next best thing.

What's interesting is in Seals memorial video for Joel Schumacher, he mentions that "Kiss from a rose" was edited into a love scene but it didn't work so it was but at the credits. There was a love scene between Batman and Chanse (that I assume was re-filmed/edited to the infamous smile scene?) It was also scripted so I wonder if was in fact filmed?

Batman Returns (1992) / Workprint
Sun, 3 May 2020, 15:03
I was looking up differences between workprint and final cuts and ran across this on Reddit
"It's pretty much the same, it's just a rough version. The aspect ratio is very shaky, from what it looks like its recorded from 35mm film as a test footage from the editing room. The colors are extremely cold. Texts is mentioned on the corner left screen that says "IVC" it only appears 30 minutes during the film. That's about it... I guess."

Sounds like it could be a later Workprint (since there doesn't even seem to be temp music or drafts of the final score. But the cold timing has me intrigued (to compare to the 4k)

Has anyone seen any Returns Workprint?
