While the Oscars have been incredibly unmemorable for years now, this particular segment featuring Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger reminiscing about their roles as The Penguin and Mr. Freeze, while addressing Michael Keaton, who stays in character as Batman throughout the whole thing, is a very fun comedy bit.

I saw these on X and wanted to post them here on the forum. Evidently, these are claimed to be very early sketches of what a "Batman 3" logo Warners were considering for what later became "Batman Forever".






Also, the "B3" logo supposedly got as far as caps being produced for crew members working on the film.




Personally, I don't think any of these possibilities really holds a candle to what they eventually went with with the question mark/bat logo, but it's interesting to look at nevertheless.

Giving Wondy her own thread in the comics section, and to possibly/occasionally post and blather about Wonder Woman topics that doesn't really associate with whatever is going on within the DCEU.

FLASHBACK 1997

Wizard Magazine's "character" profile of Wonder Woman.



What kinda stands out to me with this profile, was that it was published nearly 2 years into John Byrne's 3 year (some would say controversial stint) run on Wonder Woman from the summer of 1995 to the summer of 1998. Personally, I didn't really mind his run when I was reading it way back when, as it was bold and I love Byrne's art style, but at the same time I can also see how Byrne's stint on the book was 'your mileage may vary' depending on the reader. Being that Byrne took over the book just a few years following George Perez's universally praised and defining run on the character, definitely didn't do him many favors either. As he attempted some wild swings with not only Wonder Woman continuity, but the DCU 1990's continuity (post-Zero Hour) as well.

As far as Wonder Woman comics goes, John Byrne's time on the book was a notable one for sure. 

A couple of excellent documentaries focusing on the cancelled 1980s Cannon Films Spider-Man film, as well as James Cameron's ultimately-cancelled 1990's Spider-Man movie.

FLASHBACK 1997:

Comic creators, via Wizard magazine, comment about DC vs Marvel match ups. Some of these battles had taken place just a year prior (1996) for the crossover, where other contests suggested here never transpired.

Interesting to hear Kevin Conroy, Kevin Altieri, Eric Radomski and others speak of Tim Curry's time on the show. Especially Dan Riba commenting about Tim Curry's Joker, and noting that Hamill, initially for his first couple of episodes, was essentially following Curry's performance before making it his own.

I've been wanting to hear Curry's Joker voice for DECADES, so this is VERY much something of a "Holy Grail" for me!

I want to give this series some love by having a thread discussing it. Especially in light of the upcoming blu ray release that's recently been announced.



Now this is one gem of a show! For me, the replay value has and always will be pretty high for this show. Is it formulaic? Sure, but there's a charm to this series that is, frankly, undeniable. The casting of Bill Bixby as Dr. David "Bruce" Banner is absolutely brilliant, and Lou Ferrigno as the Incredible Hulk was nothing short of outstanding. Jack McGee (who was essentially the Lt. Philip Gerard of the show), played by Jack Colvin, was also a nice addition to the cast, and played his part in the series exceptionally well.

For all intents and purposes, Kenneth Johnson was very astute and conversant in knowing how to adapt the Hulk for a live action television series for the time, that would appeal to both children and adults, rather than one or the other. As a fan, I give full credit to this show, the Super Powers toy line, and of course Tim Burton's Batman 1989 in truly sparking my lifelong interest in not only super hero related television shows/movies, but comic books as well.

I really dig the casting of Hardy as Brock, and Harrelson as Kasady, but this just isn't where I would have gone with it. The Venom symbiote's personality is way too MCU-goofball slapstick for my tastes, but I guess with the working relationship of merging the Sony Spider-Man properties with Disney's Marvel, you'll have your synergy along with the "wonderful" MCU formula.

Oh well. Hope the Venom vs Carnage fights are, at least, entertaining....



P.S. "Maximum Carnage" as the subtitle would have been better. Come on.

I've been in a movie commentary mood as of late, and was wanting to know if any of you know of any Batman 1989 commentary tracks from podcasters or youtube videos that are genuinely worth listening to?

Thus far, I've only listened to two. Tim Burton's commentary for Batman 1989 (of course), and another from Oliver Harper's youtube channel. Which was decent enough.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Just not in the mood to get into a commentary, where the film is then continually bashed, downplayed, or nitpicked to a annoying degree. I'm sure there are some diamonds in the rough when it comes to this.

Charlie Kaufman, screenwriter for "Being John Malkovich", "Adaptation", "Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind", ect, briefly discusses during a podcast interview a pitch he made to Jack Nicholson about reprising an ageing Joker for a character study film.

He doesn't give a precise year, but he makes a reference that it was in the pre cellphone days, so possibly late 1990s or very early 2000's?

From what little info is given, it sounds like this film would have been a Jack Nicholson jokerized version of both "About Schmidt", and "The Bucket List" to some extent. The timing of "About Schmidt" is really interesting, considering that film came out in 2002 and one of the underlying themes of the film, was Jack's character ageing and the feeling of uselessness.
