Misc. Burton / Re: NEW Burton Interview

I'm sure many of you have read Burton's book?  I find his thoughts on BR quite inciteful, and real personal.

It's cool that he gives Nolan props.  A real gentleman.  :)

As I mentioned to you elsewhere, PJ, I'll be in Europe next summer, and I'm happy to hand out fliers, or whatever needs to be done.

From a legal stance, just make sure you have the rights to screen the film, if you're going to invite an audience and charge.  There are a ton of distribution, licensing, and public exhibition laws out there--so you might want to start with WB, or your contacts at pinewood, to see how something like that may work.

Hey, is there a short 'prequel' that could be screened before the actual film?  ;)

Wow.

Well, I'm glad he stuck to his principles, but yeah, Scissor Puppy, I can certainly see your point.  Had Keaton remained, perhaps BF would have been a far better film.

Having said that, I'm still not sure there would be much synergy between Keaton and Schumacher, and aside from seeing Keaton in the costume one last time, it probably would have been a bit of a mess.

I had never seen that before.  What a lovely review.  THANK YOU for posting that.

I hope Ebert heals quickly.... both Ebert and Siskel had been fans of comics, and animation, for decades--long before it caught on with other major critics.  Props to them.

PJ, is that you in the pic?  Lookin' good my man!  Like you walked off the set of the 89 flick.  :)

Although, I have really enjoyed some of the viral campaigns, of late. I honestly hope this is a spectacular Batman movie.  While I enjoyed Begins, I wasn't completely blown away by it. Perhaps this film will amp it all up a bit more.

As for Batmania?  Honestly, when BB was released we didn't see the scope of Batmania that was so evident in 1989.  Not saying this to be a 'Nolan-basher,' but it's just the truth.  With the exception of the comics, superfriends, and the occasional 'scooby doo' appearance, Batman had minimal visibility from 1968 until 1989.  When 'Batman' came out, it was just huge.  Words fail me. :)

Since B89, we've had BR, BF, BandR, B:TAS, The New Superman/Batman Adventures, BAtman:MOTP, Batman: Subzero, Batman Beyond, BAtman:mystery of the Batwoman, JL, JLU, The Batman, and now the Brave and the Bold coming out this year, along with an 'animatrix' style DVD, 'Justice League: New Frontier,' and of course, TDK.  There is far more Batman and Batman-related media out there now, than there was in 1989.  In 1989, you had Batman: The Movie, the 60s series reruns, Superfriends variations, and the chapter-reels from the 40s on VHS.  That was about it really.

I'm sure the film will do well, don't get me wrong, and I'm hopeful I'll enjoy the heck out of it. But in terms of 'Batmania,' it may be a while before we see something that level again.
