Any reason you hadn't watched it before?
Just never worked out schedule wise plus for some reason Batman Returns doesn't seem to be on tv much.

So yesterday I got around to watching Batman Returns all the way through in english. Now a few years back I saw it all the way through on the spanish channel.
Now when I watched it on the spanish channel I didn't understand what the characters were saying since I don't speak spanish though I was able to understand the story.

Seeing the movie in english was a great experience.

Michael Keaton did a great job as both Bruce and as Batman. The great thing about Michael Keaton is that he is able to act without needing to say a word. You can tell what he's thinking just by looking at his eyes.

Michelle Pfeiffer is amazing as Catwoman.

Danny DeVito was great as the Penguin. You can't help but feel a little sorry for him at first till the end when you find out what he plans on doing to all of the kids of Gotham.

And of course there's Christopher Walken as Max Shreck. As always Walken is great with playing villains.

Batman Returns is also a beautiful film to look at. Gotham city feels like a character as well.

This movie is not for everyone, and I can understand why it gets a lot of hate. Seeing this makes me wish that we had gotten a third Tim Burton Batman movie.

Personally I hesitate to consider either of Joel's Batman movies to be a sequel to Tim's Batman movies since they have a completely different feel to them in terms of design and atmosphere.

This movies kind of a guilty pleasure to me. I saw it in the theaters as a kid with my Dad so it kind of holds a special place in my heart.

It's not the best superhero movie but it's one of those dumb fun movies where you can turn your brain off and not have to think too much.

Nolan gave Bane a deformity, a "woobie" side and an origin/background that deviates from the comics. "Reinventing the character"
Truth be told comic book fans don't know what they want. But it always seems funny to me that they can accept certain changes to the source material but not other changes.

As much as I'd love to see a sequel to Batman Returns it's not going to happen. Unfortunately nowadays the Burton movies are lumped in with the Schumacher movies so a lot of people think that they are part of the same universe as Burton's movies. Also too much time has gone by so Burton's Batman universe is sadly dead. We're all kidding ourselves if we think that WB is really going to get Burton back.

For a new Batman I want to see a reboot that's more like the comics without the over the top realism that Nolan was aiming for. These are comic book movies and comic books have larger then life characters.

Also a new Batman movie series should in my opinion skip the origin story. I don't know about everyone else but personally I'm sick and tired of origin stories.
