There's an old saying called "Show, don't tell", and the Nolan Batman movies fail at it.
It seems like every five minutes a character will be telling me what I'm suppose to be feeling, and it gets really annoying very quickly.

That's my view as well.
True they're meant to be part of the same universe as the Tim Burton films, but it makes me sad to think of Batman Forever and Batman & Robin as squeals to Batman and Batman Returns.
Nowadays the Schumacher Batman films would be seen as a soft reboot.

But geez, give me a comic series like B66.
I'd love a comic continuation of the Burton movies. But sadly that will never happen since Warner Bros/DC seem to treat the Schumacher Batman movies as being part of the same universe.

Batman Returns (1992) / One of a kind

I was thinking how today's superhero movies are designed with sequels and setting up cinematic universes in mind.
A movie like Batman Returns where the director had almost complete reign over everything would never happen nowadays.
So when you stop and think about it Batman Returns is really a one of a kind movie.

Just saw it today.

Personally I liked it way more then Batman vs Superman, and the Chris Nolan movies.

Still not as good as the Tim Burton Batman movies or the Marvel movies in my opinion.

I'll post more of my thoughts later.

And why is WB not doing much in terms of giving fans of the Burtonverse what we have been clamoring for ? That is some sort of continuation of that universe whatever the medium.
Sadly I think the reason is because Warner Bros considers the Schumacher Batman movies to be a continuation of the Burton Batman movies.
In their minds they probably don't see the point.

I like the movie but it does have problems.

First of all the movie is trying to do too much. It took Marvel five movies to build up to the Avengers. DC is trying to do what Marvel did in less movies.

My biggest problem with the movie is Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. He was seriously miscasted. He reminded me more of Jim Carrey's Riddler then Lex.

I also really wised that they had left out the whole metahuman subplot.

Ben Affleck is the best thing about the movie. I'm looking forward to seeing more of his Batman in future movies.

All in all it's an ok movie, but it has some serious problems that prevent it from being a great superhero movie.

Well if we do get a Harley Quinn spin-off hopefully she'll get a better costume.

I love BatGirl's bat poncho.

No. Personally I think that Nolan's "more grounded in reality" Batman universe is ultimately a dead end. Trying to keep everything grounding really limits what you can do. Also most of Batman's big name villains that could fit into Nolan's world had already been used. So really I don't see a point.
