The Dark Knight
Love The Joker, but in this case, however, judging strictly as a character, I do find Burton?s Penguin more interesting and fascinating in the context of the film. He just works. The Catwoman union also elevates things to a higher level.

I don't understand.  Are you differentiating between the comic book villain and the burton villain?  Doesn't an artist interpretation of a character change the character and thus your opinion of the character?

Also, their are different aspects of a villain.  How bad they are, their personality, whater appeals to the viewer.  But in the end you're still using the villain as the crux of your choice right?

What I think though is, is that batman is both parts.  He's a strong guy and he's scary.  He needs both to stop bad people.  If someone was just strong and tried to stop bad people, yes he would stop a few, but people wouldn't be afraid of him because they have guns and numbers.  With the addition of the utility belt and the batarangs he does better.  But he will never stop bad guys completely because the bad people will see that he's just another regular person who can stop them, but they can deal with it.  With the addition of the bat suit, he becomes something more.  He scares the bad guys and finishes with his strength and tools.  His presence makes people want to stop being bad for a while.  Without all three I don't think batman could really stop crime in Gotham City.  Keaton has the suit and the costume.  Not the physique or fight skills.(I don't like to say bad stuff about Keaton, he did really good, but I can't give up what I think I know about the Batman Bob Kane created).  Thats why Batman fans were mad about having Keaton be Batman.  I also think Nolan could've been a little more muscular as well, but I think he was a little more muscular and fought better than Keaton.

Yeah, its the most memorable.  Though like the jokers too.  Its a tough call.

You're right.  He shouldn't have.  Ledger's joker and every other joker I've ever seen have nothing in common. 8)

Yeah, that was pretty shallow.  And life threatening too.

Overall, I think she was a necessary character.  How she was protrayed is a different story.  But I'm not too hard on her.

I think she was screaming because of the gruesome way people were dying and the fact that all this killing was being done by the joker and in regular civilian life.  The fact that it wasn't a war zone is what made it so terrifying.  At least thats what I think.  I mean, being in war desensitizes death, whereas civilian life is just cold blooded murder.  And thats what makes all the difference.

I probably would'ved screamed as much too.  Though not like a girl. :D

Who has the better ascot?  I personally loved the dots on penguins, so I'll vote for penguins.  Or maybe burtons just fascinated with ascots?

I vote yes.  Its disrespectful to think of someone elses interpretation as not bearing on your interpretation.  If there is no common ground, something is wrong.

I mean come on.  They could've at least got some ideas from Nicholson.

In an MTV interview, Nicholson was mad about not being referred to for help for the Dark Knight movie.

Does he have a right to be furious?

Burton thought that "Batman" was darker than "Batman Returns".  I read it somewhere.

And I agree with him.  Returns has more adult themed material and the penguin is in a sewer and is deformed, but that doesn't necessarily make it dark.  Its just that most people don't find it appealing, thats all.  The Penguin and Catwoman and schreck are no more evil than the joker.

The reason I think burton thought Batman was darker was because the joker wanted to kill everybody in gruesome ways and then take over the United States.  The Penguin was bad, but he wasn't psychotic.  Its just that when people think of the joker, they think of a clown.  What they don't realize is that the clown is psychotic and wants to kill, literally, everyone (at least in Gotham anyways).

As far as my favorite, well, for favorites, you have to pick your favorite villain basically.  Thats the only real difference between any super hero movie.  Between the two, the joker is my favorite, therefore Batman89 wins.

Now, if Burton was able to make the Riddler movie like he planned to make (his trilogy of the four batman villains- joker, penguin, catwoman, riddler), that would've been the icing on the cake and would've definetely been my favorite (the riddler is my favorite after all).
