Other comics / Re: Dick Tracy comics

Most of the reprints I've found are either black and white or the have done a more naturalistic color palette (The initial Gladstone "Original Dick Tracy" run or the oversized DC showcase that reprinted the Flattop story). I did find some old Sunday comics pages from around '45 and '46 that shows Gould mainly used the three primary colors and then green. unfortunately these are now lost in the black hole that is my house.

I suggest you pick up the Dick Tracy Volumes from Amazon. They cover around two years per edition and are the most comprehensible collections. Also look for the Authorized Dick Tracy Biography by Jay Maeder which covers practically everything from '31 to '90.

The film is a pretty good if romanticized version of the strip, the violence in the film is pretty tame compared to what goes on in Gould's world.

The BBC released this latest prequel minisode, The Night of the Doctor:

I'll wait for others to watch before commenting.   :)

LOVED IT!!!
I know some people who wish HE wasn't considered a canonical Doctor, but I find his outing influenced the new series immensely and am glad HE has been finally legitimized by Moffat and Company. Not surprised he has short hair here, he hated his wig.

Silver Nemesis was the 25th anniversary story because  a 25th anniversary is called the "Silver Anniversary".

True, but there's nothing in the actual story relating to silver or the 25th anniversary. Unless you count the Cybermen themselves as being silver. The plot actually revolves around a metal called validium, which I would say is more of a cream colour than a pure silver.

They could just as easily have called Remembrance of the Daleks 'Silver Remembrance' and it would have made more sense; especially since the Daleks were also celebrating their silver anniversary in 1988, whereas the Cybermen were only 22 (having debuted in the 1966 story The Tenth Planet).

I agree with you, I was just explaining John Nathan Turner's "logic" is all.

Silver Nemesis was the 25th anniversary story because  a 25th anniversary is called the "Silver Anniversary". I personally haven't seen all of that particular episode yet (just a small part back when PBS aired it many years ago), but I do agree that "Remembrance" would have been more suitable. Because we don't get BBC America, we won't be able to watch the 50th right away, but we're planning to watch "the Three Doctors", "the Five Doctors", "Dimensions in Time" and try to time watching the pilot episode around 5 or so (we're still off because of the time difference, but are going to pretend there's some "timey-wimey" intervention ;D).

Catwoman arrived today!

The Star Wars figures are  3.75 inches in height so these will probably be closer to the old Batman movie figures.

This is awesome! Now bring on the Movie Masters!

Now, let's be clear. Batman Returns is my favourite of the series - but it is divisive. Batman and Robin is divisive as well, obviously. They are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but the end result remains the same. Which is we are never going to see the likes of these two again. So I lap it all up these days. I sit back with a tub of popcorn and laugh at the freeze puns. Hate is too strong of a word, so enjoy the moment in time.

I agree. I find more enjoyment out of watching B&R than I do the slightly less controversial and more accepted BF.
BF is an uncomfortable attempt to blend a vaguely sophisticated script (Two-Face is still too under developed though) with a campy atmosphere.
B&R was meant to be a fun romp from day one with no attempts to be a dark Batman film, and I think it actually succeeds in that respect. Does that make it a perfect movie? No, Batnipples and Silverstone sink it somewhat, but those are minor in comparison to watching Arnold, Clooney, and Thurman romping around clearly having a good time.

Actually, Clooney is my second favorite Live-Action Bruce Wayne after Keaton, while his Batman, admittedly not the kind of Batman I prefer, is straight out of the early comics code days.

When they asked Oliver at the end of the episode what he would like to be called (instead of Hood), I couldn't help blurting out "Mr. Coffee". My friends laughed pretty hard at that.

If that was indeed BC helping Roy with the rapists, I approve of the costume design. It reflects the comics while being logical at the same time (it's cold at night, she wouldn't be an effective crime fighter if she loses her legs to hypothermia!).

I'm disappointed that Katie Cassidy appears to have lost weight (i.e. bowing to "all women have to look like super models" pressure). In the first season she was pretty but also looked like a real person, in last night's episode she looked like just another CW Barbie.
