Batman Forever (1995) / BF poll

Do your positive feelings about Forever outweigh your negative feelings or vice verse?

Why did Tim Burton let Daniel Waters write Robin into the first draft of the movie when Waters said in an interview that he and Burton hate the character and think he's the most useless character in the world? If Burton had the power to veto from the get-go, then why didn't he?

Batman (1989) / Jack's "flesh" makeup
Sun, 14 Jun 2009, 00:40
Prior to the 2005 DVD, did anyone else know that Jack had 2 layers of makeup on when doing the mob meeting scene?

Up until then I thought that they just put on one layer of flesh-toned makeup to give the appearance that he was covering up his "real color" and the cloth that he used to wipe his forehead right before he says "get out of here!" had tiny amounts of white facepaint. Was anyone else under this impression?

Batman (1989) / "Tim Burton's BATMAN"
Sun, 7 Jun 2009, 04:14
What do you think '89 would've been like if Tim Burton had full control over the movie like he did with Returns and was not being bossed around by Peters and Guber and could do whatever he wanted? If Burton had been the producer for the first film, do you think it would have been as good as the actual film? If so or not so, why?

Batman (1989) / "Better make it TEN"

How tall would you say the cathedral in '89 was? The script says 30 stories but it looks way taller.

She?s had many looks over the decades so there?s plenty to choose from.

Mine is the all-gray one she had in the late-80?s/ early-90?s. Didn?t care for the tail and whiskers though.

Other DC Films & TV / Watchmen movie

I haven?t seen this and am curious as to what it is like. Is it dark, cool, bad, pretentious?

Another reason why I ask is because I heard that this film was supposed to be made at Pinewood sometime after ?89 was shot there with a script written by Sam Hamm. Was now the right time to make the movie or would it have been better if it were made 20 years ago?

Misc. Burton / Anthology revelations

What are some of the things that you?ve learned from the SE DVD?s that you didn?t know before?

One thing that was news to me was that fanboys were pissed that Alfred let Vicki into the Batcave.

20 years of 89 / "Well I'm not sure"
Sat, 28 Feb 2009, 00:16
This was a great moment in the film but I?ve always wondered why Bruce lied to Vicki at first when she asked him at the party if he knew which guy was Bruce Wayne. Yes I know, she was stunning, but all the better to introduce himself.

Batman (1989) / Alicia Hunt

Did the Joker kill her or did she actually commit suicide?

I always thought he killed her but I can?t help but feel that she might?ve killed herself because of the f***ed up life she had after Jack?s transformation, plus he was trying to get with Vicki.

Whenever I watch this show, I think two things--

- This show rocks
- This show would bore kids

Did anyone watch this show as a kid? If so, did you find it to be a little to mature for your liking? Should this show have been on weekday afternoons next to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or should it have been on during primetime or HBO?

Misc Comics / Kane & Finger
Sat, 24 Jan 2009, 15:05
Up until about 5.5 years ago, I thought that Bob Kane was responsible for all of Batman's golden age material--not so much! Does it piss anyone off that Bob Kane took all legal credit for Batman when Bill Finger was a significant contributor to the legacy?

I know that Finger did much more than Batman and that it was an equal partnership between him and Bob Kane but this is a man who co-created an American icon and did not get the credit he deserved when his life ended.

I also know Finger couldn't get legal credit on Batman but I think that Kane had a moral obligation to reimburse him because the Batman world would have been very different or possibly a failure if it weren't for him. By doing this it may have saved Finger's life and would possibly have been around to see the height of Batman's popularity in the late-80's+. I don't think Mr. Kane would've liked it if Finger did to him what has already been done to Finger.

Just unforgivable!

Batman (1989) / 89 prequel
Tue, 9 Dec 2008, 06:22
Would anyone be up for a prequel to 89? If so, how would your story go?

Someone mentioned in the "what's missing" topic that they wished that in 89 there was more of Batman fighting street crime like the beginning on that rooftop with those two punks and at Axis Chemicals with Jack Napier and Grissom's gang.

What if Batman-I was pretty much him fighting crime syndicates and street thugs and did not really have any serious enemies to fight yet, like the original 1939-40 comics. No Joker, no Batcave, no Batwing, and sorry to say, no Batmobile.(I know--HERETIC!!! >:( ;))

I would see the movie like this:

Like in 89, Batman only shows up now and then to fight criminals. He would be more mysterious than 89 because we would not see his true identity. We would finally meet him in Batman-II(89).

The period in this film would be the six weeks or so mentioned in 89 that there is a cloaked and masked vigilante terrorizing the city's outlaws. One of them being that Johnny Gobbs dude. Knox would pretty much be the lead in this film following the Bat-Man story and gang war for the Gotham Globe.

There would be a major gang war between Carl Grissom's syndicate and Boss Rotelli's gang. The fight being over who can essentially own the city as well as who can buy the most influential politicians, especially the current district attorney(not Dent). The end of the movie would finally have Grissom winning the reign over Gotham's underworld as well as the police, thus leading us into Batman-II(89) where one of the gangsters, Napier, becomes a serious problem.

After that, Returns would be Batman-III; Forever, Batman-IV and B&R, Batman-V.

Batman Returns (1992) / Returns at Pinewood
Mon, 24 Nov 2008, 04:19
Does anyone wish that Returns was shot in England like the first film? Yes I know, most will say no, but right now I'm fishing for the minority.

I loved the Returns Gotham set to death, but I just wondered what the 89 set would've looked like with snow and Christmas lights everywhere. Also given the more seedy atmosphere in 89, I wonder if it would have made Returns even darker. Plus there were a few moments in the movie that you could tell it was shot inside a studio.

What are your favorite snapshots/still photographs from the first two Batman's?

From 89, one of my favorites is the photo of Napier in Axis Chemicals and Batman is sneaking up behind him. It really captures the 1939 tone of the movie. http://www.batmanmovieonline.com/gallery.php?showpicture=107 I also love the still of Batman holding the Joker by his jacket in the belfry. A perfect down to the wire mano y mano moment.

From Returns, one I like alot is Batman pointing his speargun at the RTC clown who took Selina hostage at the Plaza. http://www.batmanmovieonline.com/gallery.php?showpicture=1060
