Just wondering, was the Uncut version of Return of the Joker released on any of the multi-packs (w/Mystery of the Batwoman, or w/SubZero and The Mask of the Phantasm box)? Since there's no indication, I assume that the standalone, uncut release is the only release to include the PG-13 version.
The closest I could find was a multi pack DVD with Return of the Joker and Mystery of the Batwoman.

It doesn't say if it's an uncut edition, but it does say that the pack includes deleted scenes. :-\
Thanks, this is interesting. Though since it says Unrated, I'm going to assume it's the censored version. The deleted scenes, I believe were cut from the the film altogether.
There is an old interview of Bruce Timm expressing his disapproval of the entire editing process surrounding Return of the Joker, both from a censorship and creative point of view.

Well, I'd probably be a little less adamant about pushing for such edgy material...bottom line is that the home video dept. markets their cartoons directly at children. I'm very proud of ROTJ, but a "kid-friendly" movie it definitely isn't! I mean, ultimately, it all worked out; they got the "age-appropriate" version they wanted (kind of!), and we fans eventually got the nastier version WE wanted, but that whole editing and Re-editing process that we went through was torture. Like cutting the fingers off your own baby.

I've read about how the Columbine massacre had a major impact on the film getting delayed and re-cut. I agree with Timm, ROTJ is too dark for kids no matter how hard you try to edit it.
