Title: Unused poster art-- does anyone know the artist?
Post by: d_osborn on Wed, 9 Jul 2014, 03:06
Hey gang!

Does anyone happen to know the artist behind this unused marketing art?  I've seen that the original art is in a private collection.  Last time I asked, the collector isn't sure of the artist.  Such a cool piece! It's interesting that this variation has Keaton with top billing.

Yeah I'd really like to know too. You'd have to ask the design agency I guess, http://www.bdfox.com/ but it's possible that some of these earlier ones were done by a different group.

I don't know the actual artist per se.  However, the shadowy silhouetted image of batman looks very much like a Bruce Timm style Batman, a la BTAS.  Whereas, The Joker looks more like the style of comic book artist, Alex Ross.  Ross himself, claimed that he received a early draft of Sam Hamm's script before the film was made.  Which makes me wonder if he had anything to do with working on the poster art.  Overall, the poster itself looks awesome.

This artwork has amazed me for years. I'd love to buy a print of it someday.
