There are a lot of things we love about the movies, and this time I'm curious what is your favorite quote from the Caped Crusader on the big screen.

Right now I'm partial to : I had to save them both. You see, I'm both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Not because I have to be. Now... because I choose to be. from Batman Forever.

I like the context in which it's said and also Val's delivery a lot.

What about you?  :)

I think I'm going to surprise some fans with my pick. It's neither of Keaton's suits, nor Bale's, nor Affleck's, but Val Kilmer's first suit in Batman Forever.

I like this one best.

How about you ?

General Bat-chat / Our ranking of Batman films
Fri, 13 Nov 2015, 14:28
I intend for us to say how we rank all the Batman films while also being subjective about our opinions. I for one see good and bad in all films. The quantity of that and the quality of the good is what I use to rank. What the movies could or should have been is another thing to discuss. I am open to this being also a debate thread if you all wish, but it's not my intention.

I'll start, from worst to best:

UPDATE: DEC 2015

The Dark Knight Rises
Batman & Robin
The Dark Knight
Batman Forever
Batman (1966)
Batman Begins
Batman Returns
Batman (1989)

Yes, they can still be found here.

Batman: Vengeance isn't true power. Anyone can take a life. Giving life is true power, the power you once had.

Robin, to Batman: You know, in the circus, the Flying Graysons were a team. We had to trust each person to do their jobs. That's what being partners is all about. Sometimes, counting on someone else is the only way you win.

Alfred Pennyworth: Despite all your talents, you are still a novice in the ways of family. Master Dick follows the same star as you but gets there by his own course. You must learn to trust him, for that is the nature of family.

Bruce Wayne: I trust you, Alfred.

Alfred Pennyworth: But I shan't be here forever.

Now, if only they decided which way to go and not try to make a campy movie with serious undertones...

FOX411: Your show 'NCIS: Los Angeles' is in its 7th season. What do you think the appeal is exactly? And you can admit you have something to do with it.

O'Donnell: It's always tough to figure out why some TV shows are more well-received. There's chemistry between LL CooL J and me on screen. It's lightning in a bottle. The audience has fallen in love with the characters.

FOX411: So, who do you think was more starstruck the first time you and LL Cool J met?

O'Donnell: He had posters of me on his walls as a kid. (laughs) I look back and laugh -- if you had told me in 1985, watching LL, and told me I was spending thousands of hours with him I would have not believed it.

FOX411: Do you think your show is more kick-ass than "Law & Order: SVU"?

O'Donnell: I've never seen the show.

FOX411: Being you starred in the "Batman" franchise, who is your favorite actor to play the title character past or present?

O'Donnell: For me it will always be Adam West. I loved the show. I just watched a documentary about him and his career and facing the challenge of being Batman. I worked with two very talented actors: Val [Kilmer] and George. We had a lot of fun George and I, but the film was a disaster.

Other comics / Spider-Man
Fri, 4 Sep 2015, 16:41
Has anyone here read Amazing Spider-Man comics? I have read after I had seen the 2002-2007 films and some animated series, and Peter Parker was different here from those films. The animated versions were closer.

I just hope they have learned from the mistakes of the prequel trilogy and will bring us something better, more akin to the classics.

General Bat-chat / Birds of Prey (TV series)

I just got into it and it's really not that bad. What do you think of it?  :)

Generally, I liked Gary Oldman as Gordon and Michael Caine as Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

Batman Begins:I liked that we got an origin story for Batman, even though the film itself isn't one of my favorites, I appreciate what Nolan did. I liked how Gotham looked. I liked that Ra's al Ghul was the main villain.

The Dark Knight: I liked Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart as the Joker and Two-Face, I thought they were portrayed well for the most part, I liked that we got a more gripping story and an ending that left the audience wanting more.

The Dark Knight Rises: I like that it gave us a more serious version of Bane, I liked the small reference to Blake being Nolan's version of Robin, I liked that it brought back Ra's, that Catwoman helped Batman in the end and that he was redeemed.

Batman (1989) / Batman

Many fans, myself included, love the Joker's scenes, but I sometimes forget that Batman has some great ones as well.

When the terrified mugger is begging Batman not to kill him at the start, the way Keaton says "I'm not going to kill you. I want you to do me a favor. I want you to tell all your friends about me" and then "I'm Batman" is better than anything Kilmer, Clooney and Bale ever did.

Batman breaking in the museum is excellent  Driving the Batmobile and the Batwing too All of the scenes in the cathedral as well.

Comic Film & TV / Spider-Man TAS (1994-1998)
Sat, 12 Jul 2014, 19:28
I've watched a few episodes of this series recently, and, maybe it's because of nostalgia too, but I feel it holds up pretty well and it's still entertaining. On some levels it was a better representation of Spider-Man than the movies, even though it had its share of faults.

Any other fans of this series? I'd love to talk more about it.

Batman Returns (1992) / If not the Penguin...
Sat, 24 May 2014, 12:47
Who would've been a good villain for Batman Returns at the time beside the Penguin?

While it's not my favorite version of the character, I like Tim Burton's more tragic and monster-like Penguin and I thought Danny DeVito did a good job in playing  but I wonder what would Batman Returns have been like if they had used another villain along with Catwoman and Shreck.

Two-Face would've beeen interesting with Billy Dee Williams possibly reprising his role as Harvey Dent from the first film. I think Harvey's transformation in Tim Burton's vision would've been great to see.

Another villain I think that could have worked is Mr Freeze, because of the Christmas setting and because he's a tragic character in his own right. If they made him similar to "Heart of Ice" it would've been fantastic.

What do you think?

I think it has a nice ring to it, obviously hinting at the Justice League as well as justice being a common theme for both Batman and Superman, What do you think?

General Bat-chat / Top 5 Batman villains
Thu, 25 Jul 2013, 18:48
1 - The Joker - Batman's arch-nemesis and a comicbook character with an undeniable popularity and fandom. He can be cruel and even downright merciless but he can also be childish and playful and that's why I love 'im. I think that Mark Hamill is the quintessential Joker as far as animation goes, and Jack Nicholson is my main main in live-action. Also, Romero and Ledger were good for the 60's and Chris Nolan's universe respectively.

2. Two-Face - He always was an intriguing character to me, even though I don't believe chance is the only justice, I can understand duality perfectly. My favorite Two-Face is the one from B:TAS, the two-parter with the same name was superb.

3. Catwoman - I said she's more of an anti-hero to me, but technically she is still a vilain, and an awesome one for me. Julie Newmar was perfect for the TV series, Lee Meriwether was just as good for a campy movie and Michelle Pfeiffer was extraordinary as an alternate version. I can also appreciate Halle Berry and Anne Hathway, though for me they can't be put in the same league with the three ladies in my last sentence.

4. Mr Freeze - A tragic and almost poetic character, I only wish we'll see a Batman film someday day that will really do the character justice. For now, my favorite is the one from B:TAS.

5. The Riddler - A really enigmatic character, pun intended, I am a big fan of both the campy Riddler and the morte dark Riddler. "Riddle me this, Batman", is one of my favorite comicbook quotes to this day, and Frank Gorshin is my favorite Riddler actor.

Who are your top 5 Batman villains?

Comic Film & TV / Top 10 Marvel comics films
Wed, 24 Jul 2013, 16:44
1.The Avengers
2.X-Men First Class
3.Iron Man
4.The Amazing Spider-Man
5.Iron Man 3
6.Captain America: The First Avenger
7.Thor
8.The Incredible Hulk
9.Iron Man 2
10.Daredevil (Director's Cut)

I also have a soft spot for the Fantastic Four (both 1994 and 2005)  and I dislike the X-Men films made before First Class.
I don't care much for Ghost Rider or Punisher films or Ang Lee's Hulk or that FF film with Galactus as a cloud. I think the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is acceptable, and so are the Blade movies, but not top 10 material.

There's a whole new batch of Marvel movies coming though, this list might change.

1. Having Freeze's story be true to the character even though the villain himself was laughable.
2. Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy
3. Continuity: Arkham, Alfred, Robin and Gordon stayed the same
4.O'Donnell was believeable as Robin to me, even if too whiny
5.The Bruce and Alfred scenes

General Bat-chat / Killer Croc
Fri, 19 Jul 2013, 10:05
He's one of my favorite villains and yet he's overlooked because he's not a classic. I like him better than Bane, for a start.

At least he appeared in the Arkham Asylum videogame. In my opinion they should use him in the new Batman franchise, they have the means to make ahim look awesome.

Animated Batman / Batman Beyond

How do you feel about this series? I loved it, especially the first season. I really liked the dynamic between Bruce and Terry, Bruce and Barbara, Barbara and Terry. Melanie Walker is also one of my favorite animated characters of all time, the future's answer to Selina Kyle.

Some good vilains were also introduced here, like Blight and Shriek. The episode with Mr Freeze being revived is easily on par with Batman TAS IMO.
