Michael Ansara's Mr Freeze in Batman: The Animated Series was definitive to me. Sadly Michael has died at the age of 91 after a long illness. RIP.

RIP Michael Ansara.

Of all the old characters that featured on B:TAS Mr Freeze was the one that underwent the most positive revitalisation IMHO.  Prior to the show he had been a gimmicky second-rater.  The show turned him into the tragic memorable foe he is known as today via one of the most interesting back-stories amongst Batman's Rogues Gallery.  Michael Ansara's excellent voice work clearly contributed immensely to this achievement.
