Batman (1989) / Our first interview
Mon, 16 Jun 2008, 21:06
I have just posted the first interview for the site.

It is with Diz White - the woman responsible for the play Footlight Frenzy.

We talked about how her play ended up being shown in the Monarch Theatre the night the Wayne family were murdered!

Enjoy http://www.batmanmovieonline.com/features.php?display=34

We have some others in the pipe line - hopefully they will happen soon.  :)

Since it might be hard to choose just 1, everyone has 3 votes.

Did you spot the shadow of the baby carriage that takes the shape of a penguin for a brief second during the credits of Batman Returns? ;D

It was intentional by the way.

Batman (1989) / B89's top 5 best scenes
Tue, 13 May 2008, 16:18
list your top 5 scenes from Batman 89. These are mine:

1.  In the Axis chemical factory, Batman swoops down and catches a hood with his line.  As the hood swings from the railing, Gordon looks up in sudden realisation - "Oh....my....god"

2.  The Joker has his bandages removed to the horror of his plastic surgeon - "oh my god"

3.  Alfred tries to get through to Bruce. As Bruce picks up the file on his parents Alfred starts to bite his finger nail. His face is stern. This small jesture is most un-gentleman like and enough to tell Bruce he is annoyed.  Promting Bruce to ask "What's on your mind Alfred?"
"I have no wish to fill my few remaining years grieving for the loss of old friends...or their sons"

4.  "i'm melting" - "Boo" - CRASH.....need I say more?

5.  Batman enters the bell-tower.  As he walks around his cloak swings and drapes around him.  He is not in a good mood - that is my Batman  ;D

Probably the least popular Batman, but a Batman none-the-less.

George Clooney is 47 today.

Whatcha doing to get in the mood?  What are your plans for going to the release?

Me?  I'm playing Batman Begins on the Xbox (nearly finished) - it actually looks more like TDK that Begins to me (perhaps it influenced the Nolan team in some way) and I will be watching Begins a couple of times in the weeks before the release.

I hope to go to the opening night and take photos in Belfast.

What did everyone think of it, now that we can see it in hi-def?

I have to admit the Joker looks great in most of it.

Spoiler (highlight to read)
From the little we saw of Two-faces makeup - it looks good.  What's with the Joker throwing Rachel off the top of the building? ;D

Movies / The films of Michael Keaton
Sun, 27 Apr 2008, 19:49
Sometimes it easy to forget Batman, er...I mean Michael Keaton, did other films - so this thread is dedicated those films.

Beetlejuice is a classic, loved by all, and Michael gives one hell of a performance - infact one I have not seen him give since. As different from his Batman performance as Beetlejuice was is another film - My Life.

My Life to me is a remarkably tragic story with very ordinary, but honestly open, performances.  For those who haven't seen it - I thoroughly recommend you do so.  I dare you not to cry while watching Michael on his death bed talking to his father - a truly powerful, simple and open scene.  It doesn't go for any of the false sentimentality we usually see in Hollywood movies.

It is a film we can all relate to, whether we know someone who has died or not.  Oh and John Barry gives a typically emotive score.

My grade: A-

20 years of 89 / I'm melting, i'm melting
Sun, 20 Apr 2008, 16:09
In the scene where Vicki throws water in the Joker's face.

He say's "urghh, help me, arggh, i'm melting, i'm melting, Jack!!!!....."

what does he say then? it seems like he was imitating what Alicia might have said when he threw acid in her face.

Batman (1989) / UK release date
Sat, 12 Apr 2008, 12:21
I remember the release date for Batman 89 in the UK as being 11th August 1989.

However I see on the BBFC's website that it was given a 12 rating on 22nd August 1989.  I suppose this is just a typo?
