I took part in a similiar event a few weeks back and it was a great success.

Here is what it's all about.

We all watch the movie at the same time and log into a live chat room that I have set up and talk about it in real time.

Would anybody be up for it?

Post any trivia for Batman 89 here

I don't know how we missed it, but Tim turned 50 yesterday.

Although I'm sure it is the last thing on his mind at the moment given his wife's family's tragic accident.

Misc Comics / My first Bat-comics
Wed, 13 Aug 2008, 21:46
These are the first Batman comics I ever bought - I got them all at once and they are all I had for the 2 years that followed so I would read them over and over (yet they are still in great condition).

What are yours?

Batman Forever (1995) / Sexuality in Forever
Mon, 4 Aug 2008, 22:29
Just read some interesting statements regarding Forever.

Bob Kane didn't like the nipples on the Bat-suits

Schumacher was asked NOT to film Bat-butts. The shots were filmed and kept in when 400 women at a test screening screamed and cheered at the shots.

Looking through the posts on this board it looks like most of us are pretty down on TDK, when I know that isn't the case.  Big it up.

The Dark Knight (2008) / Bale Arrested?
Wed, 23 Jul 2008, 09:33
Christian Bale was arrested yesterday on alledged assult charges again his mother and sister.

link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2008/jul/23/christianbale.thedarkknight

Christian Bale has denied allegations of assault made by his mother and sister.

The Welsh-born actor, 34, was arrested by Metropolitan police yesterday while in town promoting The Dark Knight, in which he reprises his role as Batman. Bale was questioned for several hours at Belgravia police station before his release. He denies the allegation and has not been charged, said his lawyers.

"Christian Bale attended a London police station today [Tuesday], on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister," said the Schillings firm in a statement.

"Mr Bale, who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police," it added.

The allegation made against Bale was of assault, Bale's Los Angeles-based spokesperson, Jennifer Allen, confirmed to Reuters.

Bale is expected to present himself again to police in the autumn. A police spokesperson said: "A 34-year-old man has been bailed to return to a police station on a date in September."

According to media reports, Bale is accused of assaulting his mother Jenny, 61, and his sister Sharon, 40, at the Dorchester hotel on Sunday evening.

The women, who live in Dorset, went to a Hampshire police station on Monday to make a complaint, which was passed to Scotland Yard.

Speaking from an upstairs window of her home in Wimborne yesterday, Sharon Bale would say only that it was a "family matter".

Bale was in London to promote The Dark Knight, which has already become a blockbuster after cashing in close to $200m (?100m) worldwide in its opening weekend. In the US, it broke the three-day opening record previously held by Spider-Man 3.

A spokesperson for the film's distributor, Warner Brothers, said the police inquiry would not impact the movie's international press tour, which stops next in Barcelona and Tokyo. "Everybody is continuing with business as usual," she said.

The Dark Knight (2008) / Jack on Heath

Jack Nicholson had this to say about Heath Ledger's portayal of The Joker:

"Heath has taken him to a new level.  I couldn't tear my eyes away."

We all know Returns was 100% Burton's vision, but B89 was a mixed bag.

So many people had big stakes in it and an opinion to back  them up.

Taking the end product into consideration, who can Batman 89 be attributed to the most? Who had the most influence on what eventually ended up on the screen?

What was the Joker's movitation in B89?

Some say he had no plot and doesn't show an interest in Batman until later in the film, others say he doesn't need a plot - he just wants to kill people.

I think that everything the Joker did was to get at Batman.

His first task as the Joker (after taking over the gangs) was to send Bob out to see what Knox knew about Batman.

He then became sidetracked by Vicki Vale by used the opportunity to see what Vicki knew about Batman.  When Batman shows up at the museum however I am not sure whether the Joker assumes Batman has been following him or he has a connection to Vicki.

Joker showing up at Vicki's apartment may have been a double edged sword - to see Vicki and to provoke the Batman to appear (he does look around the apartment when he arrives - although that may have been to mirror Bruces arrival earlier).

The tv announcement and killing the crowds with smilex gas was another attempt to provoke Batman.

But the question really is?  Does the Joker ever want to kill Batman or just taunt him indefinitely creating chaos in Gotham - after all, he doesn't try to kick Batman off the ledge during the finale, just scare him. In that case, does the Joker feel he can't live without Batman?
