Eh. The original film isn't a classic, but it was still a good movie. From what I remember, the original had a sense of mystery, tension and emotion, as well as humor. This film seems to be all about humor, and honestly, I think it does the Jumanji concept a disservice. It could be so much more. Being FUN these days seems to be a get out of jail copout and I'm not liking that trend. On the plus side, Karen Gillan is the best thing about trailer. But that's about it for me.

I first saw the original in the theater, the last time it was in the early 2000s (when everything was coming out on DVD). It's many years ago so I don't know if memory fails in this case, but what I remember is that it was a surprisingly bleak movie compared to what the promotion (the trailer, the official posters) made it look like.
