Misc Comics / Wayne Family Adventures
Sat, 9 Oct 2021, 11:34
Fun, lighthearted take on the Bat Family's adventures (and misadventures  :P) outside of crime fighting. Seven comics are up so far.

Other DC Films & TV / Peacemaker (TV 2022)
Thu, 23 Sep 2021, 00:24
Here is the first peek at the "Peacemaker" series with John Cena continuing in his role from "The Suicide Squad." All of 12 seconds and half of that are HBO Max bumpers lol.

(I forgot how to embed videos  :-[)

Like I said in the thread for TSS I'm looking forward to seeing this and how it follows the movie's events. I really enjoyed the character even though I hated his final scenes (which I suppose was the idea). I'm not a wrestling fan but Cena has always seemed cool as hell to me and is by all accounts a really good dude in real life, and the character is hysterical at points when he's supposed to be in the movie, so this should be fun.

Robert Pattinson

After I made a fool of myself the day of Affleck's casting, I will never not take the "wait and see" approach again with any Batman actor. Still this name isn't exactly exciting lol. Not that I am too sure of a name that would have excited me, because I am still disappointed we aren't going to get to see Affleck solo.

Batman Returns (1992) / Father and Son

On a related note, let's be real. Is anyone actually surprised Pee-Wee Herman's son looked like THIS?

Batman Returns (1992) / The Gotham of Returns
Sun, 28 Oct 2018, 06:11
When people talk about Returns, particularly in comparison to Batman or Nolan's movies, it seems like they always bring up its Gotham City as a weakness. "It's too small, all the action takes place in Gotham Plaza," and so on.

Am I the only one that finds that to be a positive and loves it? I love how claustrophobic it feels. It adds to the intensity with the feeling of everyone being trapped, like they're in a snowglobe or something.

Misc Comics / Walmart Giant Comics
Mon, 30 Jul 2018, 17:38
Wondering if anyone else stateside has picked up any of the four Giant DC issues at Walmart. There's Batman, Justice League, Superman, and Teen Titans. They're 100 pages with diff stories printed in them (including one new original story in each) and will be released each month (starting next month it's Supes and JL the first week, then Batman and the Titans the third week). Only $4.99 apiece, I got the Batman and JL for this month, will probably get both again next month.

Here is an article I found about them: https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/23/17497126/walmart-dc-comics-giant-tom-king-brian-michael-bendis-superman-batman-justice-league-teen-titans

Batman (1989) / 30th year
Sat, 23 Jun 2018, 20:03
Seeing as Batman is celebrating it's 29th birthday today, that means we're also beginning the 30th year of the movie. My question is, are we going to have any kind of celebrations or anything over the next calendar year as we move up to its 30th birthday? I admit to having like no energy for anything like that right now, but at the same time, if something came along, it might spark that energy, so I'm interested in what others think. Should we have some fun with it? I'll post this at the BMO Facebook too, see if anyone has some ideas.

This is a cut and paste from the reply box in the "still the darkest" thread. I was replying to it but I went another direction and I'm an egotistical bitch anyway so I thought I would give it its own fresh thread to stir a new discussion and see if anyone else looks at it in this way. Sooo...

The great thing about these movies is that everyone sees them in their own way, but at the same time there's no expiration date on what they can teach you and the way you can start to see them from a different side. After 25 years I finally look at this movie from an angle that portrays it a lot less dark as I always saw it and more as a Burtonesque black comedy in a lot of ways. It's a drama, a tragedy, an action-adventure, and a romantic thriller, and yet every single aspect of it is tinged with that black humor that is Tim's trademark. A lot of the stuff in this movie that I found dark or tragic for so long is actually funny as hell when you think about it in a depraved, devious Tim Burton way. Take the Ice Princess' demise, for instance. That used to haunt me as the tragic death of an innocent girl and was my single least favorite part of the whole movie. But think about it. She doesn't know the proper order of operation for lighting the Christmas tree, then she falls off a rooftop overlooking Gotham Plaza and of all the places she could have landed in the Plaza, she lands on the switch to the tree and lights it right up. It's f***ing hilarious.

Even the intense drama of the finale (my fav movie scene ever) has that dark humor to it if you look at it from that angle (Selina's nursery rhyme as Max blasts bullet after bullet into her, Max learning that there actually is such a thing as too much power, Emperor penguins serving as pallbearers, etc). I still love the intensity and the "death and death" (as opposed to life and death) of it, but that added an extra layer.

For me Batman Returns had always been the dark tragedy of Selina Kyle, with everyone and everything else (even Batman) as nothing more than background. It was the almost pitch black tale of a woman's shattered innocence which is a big part of why it resonated with me. Don't get me wrong it still does and it's still my favorite movie and probably always will be but there's so much more to the movie that I'm finally seeing that makes it that much broader and much more lovable to a crazy chick like me as opposed to Selina's story just appealing to my own shattered innocence. The issue with all of this is I no longer see it as darker than dark or that "almost pitch black" that I used to. It's crazy and colorful, but under a heavy shroud of darkness with a beautiful snowfall. Full on masterpiece. God I love this movie.

Movie Fan Fiction / Catwoman Returns
Fri, 3 Mar 2017, 05:18
Some of you may remember that when I first joined here I tried (and failed miserably) to write a fanfic about a Burtonverse reunion between Selina and Bruce, called "Catwoman Returns." Over the next few years I kept trying, and kept failing. Some of the ideas went from being Selina-centric to trying to tie up the whole franchise (I am NOT cut out for that). My last one was going to involve a presumed dead Dick Grayson (killed in a fight with Ra's Al Ghul that also resulted in Babs' paralyzing) as the Red Hood. It would have ended with Dick unmasking Bruce in front of Gordon and Harvey Bullock and revealing Selina as the former Catwoman, before Gordon would have shot him dead to stop him from executing them. Gordon would have retired but Bullock would have like had this new respect for Batman, Bruce and Selina would have married or something, and it would have all been happily ever after. Except the fact that Dick would be dead.

Yay.

Well I've been thinking. Scary I know. But with this being the 25 anniversary of Batman Returns and the fact that the story will in large part be a BR sequel more than a B&R sequel, I've been thinking about trying to do the story again and I have come up with a good idea. I'm going back to my original plot. The return of Selina Kyle, eventually in costume, to Gotham City (and to Bruce Wayne's life). My main villain will be the Scarecrow. I'm not going to elaborate because it would be very spoilerish but lets just say the rumored story of Batman Triumphant did influence my plot for Selina greatly. If those scenes comes out as epic as I'm imagining it in my head, I may write the greatest Burton Batman fanfic ever.

Batman Returns (1992) / After the fall
Mon, 28 Nov 2016, 23:45
So I was googling something and came across these pics that show someone who is obviously not Cristi Conaway (either a stunt double or quite literally a "body" double lol) in the aftermath of the Ice Princess's fall to her doom. They were posted by someone named Lena Banks who said she "laid there for three hours - ouch!"

Anybody know anymore story? Was there supposed to be a scene showing people gathered around her like that or something?

So, Ben's solo movie has a title. What do you peeps think?

I'm going to be starting this show soon, did anybody like it, dislike it, or anything? I've heard amazing things about it but I've also heard some offputting things here and there so I'm curious what everyone here thought about it. I know they go from like the original seven to like a hundred heroes or something after three seasons or whatever so that will just be lovely with my ADD and all. But yeah, Kitty's curious what you all thought. Did it stack up good with like BTAS or Batman Beyond? Obviously Batman is my man so I'm most interested in how he was portrayed, but yeah. I'd like any spoiler free opinions I can get. Still going to watch it regardless, at least for the first few epis.

I freaking love this ;D
