I just recently bought the Superman 4-pack (all four films) in one dvd package from Amazon for about 12 bucks. I've seen the first two so far, I was just wondering of the Superman and original Batman series, which franchise had the stronger 3rd and 4th film? I know we are dealing with different heroes and circumstances but of the storyline, acting, action set pieces, finale etc., which had the stronger films?

I honestly am not sure as yet, maybe when I watch Superman 3 and 4 I can then decide.

Batman (1989) / Happy Birthday, Jack!
Wed, 22 Apr 2009, 11:52
A big Happy Birthday to one of our generation's and any other generation's, greatest actor. Nicholson has given us some amazing performances over the decades and I look forward to more from him. Nicholson's Joker is still my favourite screen villain and for me THE Joker. I wish him all the best for today.

The author made some good points on how Burton and Batman changed the aura of superhero movies.

20 years of 89 / Contacting Warner Brothers...
Tue, 17 Mar 2009, 14:19
I was trying to get some kind of contact for WB basically inquiring and at the same time pressing them to do something extra special for the 20th Anniversary of Batman, but I can't seem to find the right contact. Does anyone have a link where I can send emails or address to write a letter or two?

20 years of 89 / Let me say...
Mon, 16 Mar 2009, 11:50
Me and my brother watched BATMAN this past Saturday night and he was definitely surprised at the behind the scenes info from before, during and after the film. And the film...fantastic, we were immensely entertained and I had no doubt that we would be. The performances are still superb and the story top  notch. One thing I must say about the extras is that all those involved wether producers, actors, directors and others really seem to cherish their involvement in this film wether it's behind the scenes or in front of the camera. Just like Kim Basinger said that when she walked on the set, it was not a movie set but an experience and that's how I feel everytime I watch it. No matter how many times I see it, it's still fresh to me. Superb film.

I look forward to seeing it many more times in the future and also look forward to celebrating its 20th Anniversary this June by not only watching this classic but other activities as well.

Just wanted to share that with you guys.

Misc. Burton / Blu-ray reviews...
Tue, 10 Mar 2009, 18:33
There are quite a few reviews out there of the anthology, but I'm really interested in the first two. Here's one of Batman

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?id=1296&show=review

I think that's from the UK release about two months ago, but it's the same blu-ray. There have been some mixed reviews but overall the quality is commended. Anyone know the difference between BD25 and BD50, these are blu-ray discs I believe, but does anyone know the fundamental difference between the two? Also a friend told me that he heard that the image quality is goin to be cleaned up even further for the 20th Anniversary release of Batman in May. Take this with a grain of salt though, because there is still no specific features list or statment from WB.

June 23rd will be 20 years since BATMAN premiered in theatres in '89. I for one didn't have the privilege to see it on the big screen, but I've read accounts of great experiences. I know it's still a couple months off but I'm actually excited to celebrate the 20th Anniversary.I'm seriously thinking that day off and just relaxing and comig to this website and having great discussions with you guys. I'm actually watching BATMAN on March 14th (next Saturday) and I've invited my brother to watch it with me, with some of the special features and all. He's another Batman fan but it's been quite a few years since he's seen it, so it will definitely be a treat for both of us.

I'll watch it again on June 27th, close to the date it premiered. As you can see I have to schedule showings of this classic, because I get so busy at work. Anyway I would like to know anybody else's thought about what we can do that day.

I'll definitely bring this topic back up as the date draws near.

Check out these two videos I stumbled upon with an emphasis on Keaton just before Batman Returns premiered in theatres in '92.

I must say that the image is even clearer, kudos to WB and blu-ray!

Hey guys, the SE dvd's of the first four Batfilms are once again available with the blu-rays coming out in several weeks time. This is exciting news especially for those who haven't owned their favourites as yet.

The Dark Knight (2008) / TDK nominations
Wed, 17 Dec 2008, 12:19
I was actually a little disappointed that TDK only received one Golden Globe nomination. Although the first two Burton Batman films are the best in the series in my opinion, TDK was an excellent film with some pretty good dramatic elements, it should have gotten a Best Picture nom along with a nod for Best Director and Screenplay. Let's hope the Oscars don't leave them out.

I'm sure there are some Bat-fans here that agree with me.
