Messages - The Dark Knight

Not surprised this is getting average reviews.

I won't be wasting my time. Sony should just pack up the franchise.

Quote from: The Dark Knight on Thu,  9 Nov  2023, 03:15Looks as average as Afterlife. Lame title, lame special effects and I still can't work out if that kid is a boy or a girl. The franchise ended with Ghostbusters 2, with The Game being a tasteful tribute. This kiddy stuff is a joke. If it didn't have the Ghostbusters branding I doubt people would care all that much.

Quote from: BatmanFurst on Sat, 16 Mar  2024, 18:38At the time Raimi's approach to the swinging seemed so innovative. The idea of the camera keeping up with Spidey to give you the feeling of swinging with him was amazing.

I also can't wait to check out the Raimi trilogy again in theaters. Haven't seen 1 and 3 like that since they were released.
I've been on a Spidey hit again recently so this news comes at the right time. I'll be checking out all three Raimi films in cinemas at a minimum. There's also interesting rumblings about the possibility of a fourth Raimi outing. Dunst said she'd do it for the money, which is okay with me. Tobey would do definitely do it, and Raimi said it would be "at the right time." I'd crawl over broken glass to see a veteran Tobey swinging around a fully evolved Raimiverse. At least No Way Home kept his flame alive after all this time. I'm fine with how he was handled.

Quote from: eledoremassis02 on Wed, 13 Mar  2024, 15:53I also feel like Vicki figured out Bruce Wayne was Batman, came to the manor and told Alfred and Alfred figured "now that she knows"
Indeed. The scene with Vicki and Knox studying the old newspapers was the moment it clicked for her. The amazing thing about B89 is how it all came together as if it was meant to be despite any issues they encountered on set or through the script. Having the final Bruce/Vicki conversation outside of the cave wouldn't have had the same gravitas. She met Batman in the cave earlier, and then Bruce in the same location. I like that contrast.

That sucks. I've read a lack of available stages for filming and the script not being ready due to strikes are being cited for the delay. At least we have The Penguin this year. But I have to admit this still hurts the momentum of this universe to a degree. And it makes you wonder when Gunn wants the Brave and the Bold movie released.

The King looks good, and indeed, that's exactly how his Batman would react. The role is engrained in his DNA. It comes naturally.

The King said this on a recent podcast about returning to the role:

"I don't think about it much. Never say never, I don't think. Everything depends upon something else."

I actually think he'd come back again if the opportunity arose, even after being screwed around with The Flash coda being removed and Batgirl scrapped. But with the DCU starting I can't see anything happening for a long while. Which is a damn shame - I'd take him even voicing an animated movie.

But regardless, I like how this short Oscars skit cements his reputation as Batman. And even if The Flash bombed, I still like his scenes. The Supergirl rescue sequence is one of the best action showcases on film aside from the BvS warehouse scene.

Quote from: eledoremassis02 on Sun, 10 Mar  2024, 04:54Got the deleted line from Alfred. Haven't seen anyone post a clip of it https://streamable.com/80mbug

Also I noticed the one reporter who asks about Grisson before Knox asks his question was overdubbed in the final version, his real voice is in this concert mix and Alfred calls Vicki by name at the end when she looks at the Batsignal
Thanks for that. I like the silence of Alfred in the Final Cut because this is not a normal meeting. Alfred has facilitated an intrusion and is risking his employment. Her arrival by his side says enough, and once he's done his deed Alfred's out of there. In general I don't have a serious problem with the Bruce/Vicki scene taking place in the cave. It's Alfred's attempt at forcing someone into Bruce's life so he may attain happiness, giving more meaning to the line "I have no wish to fill my few remaining years grieving for the loss of old friends. Or their sons."

Other DC Films & TV / Re: Superman (2025)

Like the yellow emblem for Batman that had been absent for too long, I'm hoping the yellow logo is back on Superman's cape. While I think this should serve as a celebration of classic Superman tropes (he needs it after so many evil/brainwashed plot lines), I'm also hoping we see a ton of stuff that's new to the films as well. Don't hold anything back thinking there will be other films to expand into. Put it on the screen now. Krypto. Brainiac. Galactic travel. A proper Fortress decked out with futuristic technology and relics.

The title has been changed to just 'Superman'. Not a fan. We've already had that with the 1978 film and at least Legacy was distinctive. Changing the title also makes me feel uneasy because it communicates chaos and uncertainty, regardless if that's real or imagined. This movie feels like make or break for the cinematic fortunes of the character. If people aren't interested now when will they be? Even if the movie is good it still needs to make money. It's possible Superman has been left behind for a number of reasons. It's a shame Gunn is the man behind the camera. He is a creep and a liar. Let's see what happens.

Accurate, except he wouldn't have even let Harley get a shot off. I'm envisioning a dodge before the gun was fired with it quickly stripped apart and thrown to the ground.

As expected, via this article: https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/warner-says-suicide-squad-kill-the-justice-league-has-fallen-short-of-expectations/

QuoteChief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels provided a brief update on the game's early performance during Warner Bros. Discovery's fourth quarter earnings call on Friday.

"We are lapping the release of Hogwarts Legacy in February last year, which saw the largest portion of its very positive financial impact in the first quarter," he said.

"This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1."

What a surprise. Between this and Gotham Knights we're experiencing an unnecessary lull. Even if the Arkham Batman is brought back to life as the story develops they've already lost their audience. How about giving Batman fans what they want and that's another solo game where we actually play as the hero and defeat the villains? It might not be an Arkham game, but word is Lego Batman 4 is currently in development. I hope that's true, because all the others have been worthwhile. It would likely be a return to form after what we've recently received.

You look good to me. A dead ringer for Eckhardt, and you can quote me on that.
