Incredible score with the boot!  Congrats!  You're right--if "Nike" had been in the description, there's no telling what it would have sold for.

Have you considered any restoration work?  Tom Spina does AMAZING work!   http://www.tomspinadesigns.com/

So has anyone discovered the base jacket used on the originals?  Were they customs made by the costume department?  The UD replicas are SUPER NICE, but they just aren't doing it for me.

On a similar note, the playing card patches on the sleeves seems to show some sort of rank in Mr. J's organization.  Bob's jacket has five cards, and I've seen other jackets with ranks down to one card.  Cool little detail!

There were several other attempts in the 80s, but the period piece has always sparked my curiosity.  The comedy version gets mentioned quite a bit (I'm guessing that was during Reitman's time on the project).  Cinefex magazine mentioned a more fantasy-based script--NO CLUE on that one, haha!

This is a huge long shot.  I've been reading about this thing for ages--Robert Wuhl even mentioned it on the DVD doc.  Apparently WB considered a black and white, art deco period piece for Batman before Burton's involvement.  I'm guessing this is between 1983 and 1985, but who knows... there could have been simultaneous scripts in development.

There is next to no info in the wild on this thing, other than subtle mentions in a few magazine interviews.  Does anyone know who pitched it?  Does anyone know who, if anyone, wrote the treatment or script?  It's a long shot, but does anyone actually HAVE a copy of this thing?  Does anyone have a contact at WB or DC that might could shed some light?  Maybe even Sam Hamm, Uslan, Mark Canton, Jon Peters, or Robert Whul?  I know... like I said, LONG SHOT.   8)

unfortunately, no... it's all gibberish aside from the headlines.
Depends on how you view it. I find it fortunate, as it just strengthens my snow-globe opinion.
the articles are pretty much the same paragraphs repeated over and over. aside from the headlines, the text isn't relevant to the film at all.  it's not even coherent as a story.

i have a few prop newspapers from other 80s and 90s films... they're all pretty much the same.  gibberish articles with movie-accurate headlines. some of the papers have dates, some don't.

burton's batman films had a LOT of detail in the production design, but the articles in the prop newspapers don't fell into that category.

Are there any dates on the BR newspapers that give clues to the time period?
i have two production-used newspaper props from returns... no dates on either.

I don't suppose the newspaper props contain authentic 'stories' do they d osborn?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever scored a copy of the first draft Daniel Waters RETURNS screenplay?  Almost every draft of the hamm's script for the first film is easy to come by.  Aside from the two drafts online, RETURNS scripts are definitely harder to dig up.
