The Empire article came out, and there's some quotes from Todd Phillips in there. This was obvious, but here it is:

Quote from: Todd PhillipsWe didn't follow anything from the comic-books, which people are gonna be mad about. We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That's what was interesting to me. We're not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker. It's about this man.

Nerds are raging about this comment but I'm cool with it. The comics deviate and reinvent these characters constantly.
For some strange reason nerds rage when a film, book or cartoon does the same.

Ooh, I've never seen this before. Now I'm interested in reading this book as well.
I hope someone will tell us if it's worth reading.

I'd prefer a final Burton outing to be like Batman Beyond.

Keaton's Bruce as the old man staying at home. He always was a recluse, and this would show not much changed with the passing of time. It's just the fact he can no longer suit up and fight crime. Just imagine it. A scene similar to Batman Returns. Bruce is sitting in a pitch black room, alone in silence. Alfred is dead. And the bat signal lights up, but he doesn't move. He puts his head down and looks sad. Someone else is doing his job, but he slowly makes his way to the batcave to assist his replacement via a headset.

And even though I like it, TDK Returns has been overdone to be honest.

I think with DC/WB basically adopting a "try anything" approach to their films these days I feel that it is not out of the realms of possibility to have a third Tim Burton Batman movie.

Here's my pitch:

Michael Keaton is Batman still, but suffering from poor health/age. During a caper Batman almost bites the dust when a criminal almost gains the upper hand. He is aided by Terry McGinnis who enables him to escape danger. This turns out to be a fortuitous event since Terry is seeking to avenge his father's murder.
Bruce Wayne's struggles continue as he has to flight a take over of Wayne Enterprises by Derrick Powers.

Batman Returns (1992) / Re: Cape Glider

Batman used his cape as a glider in Batman (89) when descending onto the catwalk in axis chemicals to confront Jack Napier did he not?
As he lands he hits a device on his belt.

The inly movie I've ever seen Mr Pattinson appear in was Twilight. I don't remember much from his performance to be honest, I'll have ti see if he's made any films that appeal to me so that I can better evaluate his acting chops.

I'm seeing a bit of pushback from comic book reading snobs.
To their way of thinking only the comics can reinvent a character or add to the mythology of these characters.
Of course they wilfully ignore the fact that many of the now iconic mainstays originated on radio shows, Serials, cartoons, and movies.

I saw this film for the first time on Christmas day in 1991 on BBC1 when it premiered on UK TV
I can remember it like it was yesterday :)

I had seen the Adam West Batman movie a day or two before and quite enjoyed it, but up until that fateful day Superman was my favourite hero due to the excellent Christopher Reeve movies.

I remember Batman coming out a few years before but was too young to see it in the cinema. Although I was bout the toys for Christmas 89. (Batmobile/Batwing/Batman/Joker/Bob the goon)

I moved into a new home in 91 and was very happy to find a poster hanging on my bedroom room wall by the previous owner of Michael Keaton as Batman in the Batcave :)

I used to just lay on the bed staring at it ad imaging what the movie would be like.
The evening I saw Batman for the first time my entire life was changed. Batman instantly became my favourite hero and has remained so since. I was completely blown away. The best filmic experience I've ever had. I had no problem with the killing because the film didn't tell me that what Batman was doing was wrong.

It was only some years later 95-ish that I started reading the seminal Batman graphic novels that I realised Batman's aversion to guns taking of life.

Mine is still playing with the original audio.
Did you download your copy of it? I just streamed mine and it first started to play with no English track at all and eventually ended up with the remixes audio.

I just streamed it on my apple tv.

Looks like Warners caught on to the iTunes version of Batman '89 having the original audio and changed it to the new remixed version.

Mine is still playing with the original audio.

I've watched the film on iTunes and can confirm that it's the remastered picture and original audio. I don't know why they're making this option so hard to accomplish for the discs. They pulled a similar stunt when Superman: The Movie's theatrical cut first came to DVD. The original theatrical audio track was a downgrade of the remixed track. They had to send out replacements. Hope something like this is implemented for this release.

Yes, I've just checked my old itunes copy, which was recently updated to the new 4K master. The old sound effects are present.
I would like the option of watching the film with the new effects though. I wonder why these mandatory decisions are being made for us?
