Nearly twenty years may have gone by but Tim Burton still feels a debt to one man for the success that was ?Batman.? ?Jack [Nicholson] was so good to me. He really helped me through ?Batman? completely. I was just a kid. Everybody was wondering how I got this job and he was just quietly supporting me. I?ll never forget that,? the visionary director recalled when I brought up the famed franchise.

When I told Burton that Nicholson had seemed almost upset about Heath Ledger taking over as the Joker in the upcoming film, the director laughed it off saying, ?That?s what?s great about him. He could be not serious but he also could be serious. That?s what gives him an amazing quality as an actor and a person.?

But just because it?s laughs all around when it comes to Burton and Nicholson doesn?t mean the ?Sweeney Todd? director doesn?t harbor some resentment over how his ?Batman? films were treated.

?I was just always amazed that people used to rag on my movies,? he said. ?Nobody really acknowledged the fact that [?Batman?] was slightly different at the time from other comic book movies. So lay off, will you? They would get on my case all the time and it?s still kind of that way today,? he said.

Personally, I think he's right. There are a vast majority who feel Burtons Batman was one of the best comic movies to date. Many who think his is the best Batman to date. Look at this forum.lol
Yet, there is still massive critisizm.
We've all seen on other boards how Tim Burton AND  Schumacher get ragged on about their Batman movies.

So, what do you all think about his comments?

Superb quotes.  I do love the movies.  SCREW anyone who doesnt love them hahahaha

----It's not who I am inside, but what I do that defines me!!!!!!

I read this interview at MTVblog the other day.

While there did you see what Nicholson said about NOT being asked to be the Joker again? He was a real crybaby about not being asked to play the Joker again. Kinda sad. He made millions playing the Joker. He had a deal to get a HUGE kickback from ALL the Joker toys made. He made a TON of money & is now bitter??

The thing about the Jack interview is that I dont thinnk he truly knows that this is a "relaunched" franchise. He believes this to be just another sequel, as many still do.Even Tommy Lee Jones thinks that when he made his comments when asked about Eckart taking over the role of Two-Face. "Really? I thought he died."

The thing with Jack is he really was a major force in Batman. He supported the film genuinly, he "wanted" the role of Joker. He has a passion for the character, which is obvious by his remarks in the SEDVD. I think if anything he was just expecting a courtesy call about the character from the new team, especially if he's thinking this is a true sequel to what they did in '89.
