Hey all!

As we all know, 2014 marks the 25th Anniversary of Batman... Just like our fearless leader Paul over here, I'll be celebrating the Anniversary all year long over at my site www.1989Batman.com ... But we want other fans to be a part of the celebration too! Beginning now and running through May 31 2014, we want you to submit your best "I'm Batman" impersonation video- recreating that classic moment from the 1989 film. All submitted clips may become a part of a special 25th Anniversary compilation video posted right on or around June 23 (the day Batman hit theaters across the US)!

Your submission also enters you into a series of giveaways leading up to the deadline. For all submissions through February 28 2014, you'll be entered to win the Special 25th anniversary edition of Batman on Blu-Ray (which includes a small commemorative book). Other great prizes may follow and will depend on the overall interest and submissions to the contest... So be sure to tell all your friends about it! ;)

Sending your clip is your entry into the contest(s) and also releases rights to the clip to me (so that I can add it into the overall video). If you don't want your video added, I am sorry but that voids your entry... I want this to be a worldwide fandom celebration after all! And if you're under 18, please get your parent's permission before entering! Your submitted video implies that you have done so!

So get to it! Send those videos over to james@1989batman.com today! :)

For those that don't know me, I run a couple of blogs/pages on the net... One being my page dedicated to Burton's Bat- 1989Batman.com. Over time, I plan on posting everything I have related to the film... Vintage Videos, Newspaper Clippings, Magazine Articles, Toy Reviews, etc. If it is somehow related to the Burton Bat-universe, I will try and get it up over there.

Well, I recently had the opportunity to look through the original style guides created by DC Comics/ Warner Brothers for some stuff not quite related to Burton's world- "Batman The Animated Series", "The New Batman Adventures", and "Batman & Robin". For those unfamiliar with what these are, style guides are created by copyright holders to assist licensees in maintaining a uniform look across all their tie-in merchandise. Companies would use the information and images shown here in the design of their product, creating a look that was uniform to its respective property. The style guides for these 3 particular works are LARGE and contain a hefty amount of visual reference.

Thanks to the current keeper of these guides, I have now begun the process of scanning each of these guides and archiving them over at 1989Batman.com. While these aren't particularly related to the Burton films, each of the projects spun out from the world created in "Batman" & "Batman Returns", and with them not being available online anywhere else that I can find, I felt adding them here was worthwhile. The task will not be a quick one, as each guide is over 100+ pages long. As part of the agreement in hosting them, I also need to watermark each page (as inconspicuous as possible, as I ordinarily HATE watermarking stuff), so that too will add to the time in doing this. Since there will be a lot of time involved, and the guides themselves are broken into sections anyway, I figure the best way to go about this would be to post a section of each guide at a time until they are complete. I am starting with "Batman The Animated Series" (which is the only guide that is missing a few pages), I will then move on to "Batman & Robin", followed by "The New Batman Adventures".

The first installment just went up and can be found here: Batman The Animated Series Style Guide Part 1- The Intro Pages

Today's posting covers the 7 "introductory" pages to the guide. While there isn't a lot here to get too excited over, I hope you'll keep checking back for future installments in this process! There is a ton of great artwork here... stuff rarely seen by those outside the industry.

As each new installment goes up, I'll throw a link in this thread (if it is okay with the mods). Oh... and if these style guides interest you, here is a link to a previous entry at the site featuring the '89 Batman style guide- Batman 1989 Style Kit

Thanks guys!

Hey all!

After waiting almost 11 years to show it to him, my oldest son Blaze finally got to watch the 1989 Batman film yesterday! I have been building up the excitement for this viewing literally since he was born in the hopes of making an event out of this 24-year-old film... The video in the linked post at my blog shows his reaction to the surprise viewing, my reasons for waiting him to be this age, and his initial thoughts after viewing it. Enjoy!

Hey all!

I love Burton Batman... I love toys...It stands to reason that I love toys based on the Burton Bat-films, and you might too. :) So I figured I would use this thread to link off of all the reviews my sons and I do that are Burton Bat-centric.

Figured there might be some fellow fans of the Kenner Keaton Batman toy lines on here that might enjoy seeing this- The original wax sculpture of the Michael Keaton Batman head used throughout the Kenner Batman Dark Knight Collection & Batman Returns lines!

More pics and a little backstory on it here:

Hey all!

So the pictures posted by Mark R Jones of his Pinewood set visit pretty much took my breath away the other day. With his permission, I've worked them into a post at my '89 fansite today. I've spent the last few days matching his pictures up to shots from the film in an attempt to figure out how the set was laid out. Please check it out if you get a chance:

Thanks again to Mark for the amazing pictures!
