Matt Reeves to direct "The Batman?"

As the world knows by now, Ben Affleck has vacated the director's chair for WB's highly-anticipated solo Batflick. It has been reported that WB has a shortlist of possible directors to go behind the lense for the titular hero. One such director is Matt Reeves, who has helmed such films as Cloverfield and Let Me In. He is also the director of the highly successful and well-received Planet of the Apes sequels, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and most recently, War of the Planet of the Apes, scheduled for release this July.

It is unclear of the other directors on this short-list, but Reeves may very well be the top choice. He has an ability to craft well-grounded character pieces in the midst of scale and high-impact action sequences. WB should make an announcement soon, as The Batman, is scheduled for release next year.
