Batman in Arkham Asylum?

Another recent rumour has surfaced involving the direction of Affleck's solo Bat-flick. Instead of patrolling the streets and skylines of Gotham, it's said that Batman may actually be "held" or "incarcerated" in Gotham's #1 mental institution, Arkham Asylum. There seems to be strong influence from 1989's graphic novel Arkham Asylum: Serious House on Serious Earth, as well as hints that the film will indeed feature a number of villains from Batman's impressive Rogues Gallery.

Affleck will be co-writing the film with DC Comics Creative Officer Geoff Johns and won't sign off on the film until, as Affleck puts it "I'm happy with it." The Arkham Asylum storyline could indeed be very interesting from a psychological point of view, but some are unsure on how it will play in terms of an action picture. This new rumour, as well as the previous Red Hood storyline rumour, is leaving a lot of Bat-fans with high anticipation as to where the story will go. There are a lot of great Batman stories and Affleck and company aims to "borrow" from some of the best to create their solo Batman films and the dawn of a new Batman series.

A tentative date has not yet been finalized but many are assuming it will be in October of 2018, where an untitled DC Comics film is scheduled for release.
