UPDATE: Kevin Conroy in new Arkham Game but NOT Origins

UPDATED: Tue, 21st May 2013

If you've read the reports below you will know poor Kevin and seemingly already put his "bat-boot" in his mouth regarding Arkham games in progress.

Kevin recently joined twitter (@realkevinconroy) and yesterday he put both bat-boots in it by posting "Confusion in Dallas! I am in new ARKHAM GAME coming soon, NOT ARKHAM ORIGINS coming this fall."

The twitter post was soon after deleted (luckly Batman-News.com grabbed a screenshot), but it seems we have another Arkham-verse game to look forward to.

What could the new Arkham game be? It could well be to launch on the next generation Playstation and X-Box consoles...remember those rumours about a "next-gen" Batman game with a Justice League story?

Or as our gaming expert SilentEnigma thinks it "seems this will be like a spin-off game, a 'Batman Gaiden', a sidestory to tidy up fans until Arkham 3 comes along for the next gens"

What do you think?

UPDATED: Mon, 20th May 2013

Contrary to reports to the contrary (yeah this is becoming confusing) Kevin Conroy will NOT be returning as Batman in Arkham Origins.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson provided IGN with the following statement: "Roger Craig Smith is confirmed as the voice of Batman and Troy Baker is confirmed as the voice of The Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins."

Conroy's comments as the Dallas Comic-Con (see below) can only mean one of two things:

  • Either he is involved in another "Arkhamverse" game, possibly next-gen, that is yet to be announced or
  • He is featuring in "Origins" as a kind of narative bookending capacity.

The possiblity of another Arkhamverse game is slight at the moment - Kevin wouldn't be able to talk about it unless it was announced officially - so until we get official clarification from WB Games it's all a bit of a mystery.

Contrary to previous news reports (namely from gaming magazine NAG) that stated Kevin Conroy would not be voicing Batman in the new Arkham Origins game - the actor himself has quelled runours and confirmed he is.

At the Dallas Comic-Con panel (watch video below) he spoke about the project and stated he had been working on the next Arkham game for the past "nine or ten months". The Non-Disclosure Agreement that the actors on the game signed obviously has made any previous statements impossible.

This is great news for fans of Kevin and reassuring that his days of voicing Bats are not over yet.
