Batman Live Cancelled!

Sad news for fans and those waiting to see the Batman Live show, we've just learned that the tour will be ending with the Dallas shows on December 16th.

There was concern already when it was announced last month that the Tulsa and San Antonio shows were cancelled entirely. Poor audience attendance was to blame for those cancellations and is the reason the rest fo the tour closing. The tour is currently in Fort Wayne, Indiana - enjoying good audiences from what we hear.

There is yet to be an official announcement, and we haven't yet had a response from the tour's organisers.

We do know that this has to be the reason the soundtrack didn't get the release when we reported it would - all we can do now to petition for a release of some sort - even if it is iTunes.

Editor's take:
I have to say I am shocked to hear about the tour's cancelation. I would have expected the tour to do really well in other venues such as New York. The tour enjoyed huge success in Europe so the problem of poor audiences in America - the home of Batman - is especially baffling. It had intially been contracted for a 5 year tour and I personally was holding out hope that it would re-tour (my son was too young to see it last time).

What is the reason? Well I can tell you it ain't the show itself. I haven't spoken to anyone who has seen it that hasn't raved about it. Read our review to see how I feel about it. Perhaps the promotion of the show confused audiences - it's suprising how many people still think it is a musical. Perhaps it's the ecomony and people just aren't spending cash on events like Batman Live.

Whatever the reason it has left me deeply saddened. Those involved with the show are a dedicated and talented group. I wish them every success and wish to express my graditude for bringing Batman and his cohorts to audiences young and old is such grand fashion.
