About this image:
The opening sequence begans with a long tracking move towards moody Cobblepot Mansion, the birthplace of the deformed birdlike baby Cobblepot - soon to be known as the Penguin. Matte World produced the multiplane shot, utilizing both miniatures and rear projection techniques to create a sense of depth and scale. In the shot the camera continues past the gate towards the window where the grim master of the house stands in silhouette. An illusion of distance was achieved by photographing the gate and mansion models on seperate but overlapping motion control tracks with the Cobblepot figure rear projected into the window.
