Beetlejuice II coming to fruition ?
« on: Wed, 8 Feb 2012, 19:54 »
From Beetlejuice (film) WIKI page:

In June 2010, Michael Keaton announced his interest in returning for a Beetlejuice sequel.[37][38] On September 8, 2011, IGN reported that Seth Grahame-Smith, author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, is currently working on a new Beetlejuice movie.[39] On October 27, 2011, Smith revealed more information about the project, stating that the film is a sequel to Beetlejuice that takes place 26 years after the original film.

Just another internet rumor? or is any of this concrete ?

If it's true, then i don't have to express mine my excitement. If Tim Burton's on board most likely back in the directing chair, i couldn't see any harm done (ie. some flat studio-made sequal/remake ).

Seems it could very well happen.

I'd be totally on-board myself... as long as Burton and Keaton are in.

I am actually quite excited by the possiblity of this. I know Kevin Smith joked about it "must we go tropical?"  ;D There have been worser sequels however. This seems likely to work more than the ill fated Ghostbusters III (which gets more painful the more it drags on).

Good thing is with the makeup Keaton could perhaps still look the same as in 1988.

I would like to see other faces return however. Having watched the cartoon series as a kid I'd hope Burton would bring back the Dietz family. Especially Lydia. Not sure if Winona Ryder or Catherine O' Hara would be back. Although they were recently at the premiere of Frankenweenie together. Think Burton asked them when he had the chance?

Don't think we'll get the Maitlands. Alec Baldwin doesn't look the same now. Plus they were mysteriously absent from the cartoon show. And one we sadly won't get at all is Glenn Sadix as Otho. He passed away last year. Great shame.

Update:

Seth Graham Smith has winked/hinted at starting the first draft, in a recent tweet.
